This Service is especially arranged to precede, if so desired, the Celebration of the Holy Communion. The people being in their accustomed places the Minister shall reverently recite these sentences. And it shall come to pass when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? that ye shall say, It is the Lord's Passover. Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations, ask thy father and he will show thee, thy elders and they will tell thee. Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us, therefore, let us keep the feast. Then all the people shall sing or say Thanks be to God! Then shall be said or sung these Versicles : Minister. O Grave, where is thy victory? People. The victory comes through Jesus Minister. Let us give thanks unto our Lord God; People. It is meet and right so to do. O Holy Lord, Almighty, and Immortal; People. Have mercy, and grant us Thy peace. Minister. Blessed and Immortal Saviour, Who by Thy death hast triumphed over the grave, and for ever taken away the fear of death; we rejoice in this manifestation of the power of Thy divinity, and the abiding evidence it gives of the truth that was first made known to us by the majesty of Thy character and the glory of Thy perfect love. We rejoice in the wondrous witness, so graciously given, of the immortality of this our human life, and the great glory which awaits us in the world to come. Lord Jesus, give us grace to follow Thee, to keep our promises and vows, and faithfully to fulfil our solemn engagements with Thee and Thy holy Church, that, with all our power, we |
