This Service is especially arranged to precede, if so desired, the Celebration of the Holy Communion. The people being in their accustomed places the Minister shall reverently recite these sentences.

The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed, and hath appeared unto Simon. Alleluia!

Therefore, my heart is glad, my glory rejoiceth. My flesh also shall rest in hope.

In Thy presence is the fulness of joy, and at Thy right hand there are pleasures for ever

more.

Antiphon.

Minister and People.

The Angel of the Lord,
Descending from Heaven,
Came and rolled away the Stone
From the door of the Sepulchre :
And when the disciples came, he said,
Be not afraid! Why seek ye the living
Among the dead?

He is not here! He is risen!

Alleluia!

Then shall all sing

Jesus Vivit.

Jesus lives! Thy terrors now
Can no more, O Death, appal us.
Jesus lives! By this we know

Thou, O grave, canst not enthral us.

Jesus lives!

Alleluia!

Henceforth is death

But the gate to life immortal;

This shall calm our trembling breath
When we pass that solemn portal.
Alleluia!

Jesus lives! To Him the throne

Over all the world is given.

We shall go where He is gone,
Rest and reign with Him in Heaven.
Alleluia!

Then shall the Minister read the Story of our Saviour's Resurrection, St. Matthew xxviii, 1-10 verses, saying, The Lesson is taken from the twenty-eighth chapter of the Gospel according to St. Matthew; and at the close, Here endeth the Lesson.

The Lesson.

Then shall be sung this or some other appropriate Hymn or Anthem.

Te Deum Laudamus.

We praise thee, O God: we acknowledge Thee to be the Lord.

All the Earth doth worship thee: the Father everlasting.

To Thee all Angels cry aloud the Heavens and all the Powers therein.

To Thee Cherubim and Seraphim: continually do cry,

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Sabaoth. Heaven and Earth are full of the majesty of Thy glory.

The glorious company of the Apostles praise Thee.

The goodly fellowship of the Prophets : praise

Thee.

The noble army of Martyrs: praise Thee. The holy Church throughout all the world : doth acknowledge Thee,

:

:

The Father of an Infinite Majesty.
Thine adorable, true and only Son.
Also the Holy Ghost; the Comforter.
Thou art the King of glory: O Christ.
Thou art the Everlasting Son of the Fa-

ther.

:

When Thou tookest upon Thee to deliver man: Thou didst humble Thyself to be born of a Virgin.

When Thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death: Thou didst open the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers.

:

Thou sittest at the right hand of God in the glory of the Father.

We believe that Thou shall come to be our

Judge.

We therefore pray Thee help Thy servants : Whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy precious blood.

Make them to be numbered with Thy saints: in glory everlasting.

O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine
heritage.

Govern them and lift them up for ever.
Day by day we magnify Thee.

And we worship Thy Name : ever, world
without end.

:

Vouchsafe, O Lord to keep us this day without sin.

O Lord, have mercy upon us : have mercy

upon us

O Lord, let Thy mercy be upon us : as our trust is in Thee.

O Lord, in Thee have I trusted : let me never be confounded.

Then shall the Minister read

The Little Chapter.

And it shall come to pass when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? that ye shall say, It is the Lord's Passover. Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations, ask thy father and he will show thee, thy elders and they will tell thee. Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us, therefore, let us keep the feast.

Then all the people shall sing or say

Thanks be to God!

Then shall be said or sung these Versicles :

Minister. O Grave, where is thy victory?

People.

The victory comes through Jesus
Christ.

Minister. Let us give thanks unto our Lord

God;

People. It is meet and right so to do.
Minister. Who are these in white array?
People.

These be they that came out of

great tribulation.

Minister. O God, make clean our hearts within us;

People.

And take not thy Holy Spirit from us.

Minister. O Holy Lord, Almighty, and Immortal;

People. Have mercy, and grant us Thy

peace.

Minister.

Blessed and Immortal Saviour, Who by Thy death hast triumphed over the grave, and for ever taken away the fear of death; we rejoice in this manifestation of the power of Thy divinity, and the abiding evidence it gives of the truth that was first made known to us by the majesty of Thy character and the glory of Thy perfect love. We rejoice in the wondrous witness, so graciously given, of the immortality of this our human life, and the great glory which awaits us in the world to come.

Lord Jesus, give us grace to follow Thee, to keep our promises and vows, and faithfully to fulfil our solemn engagements with Thee and Thy holy Church, that, with all our power, we
