AN ORDINANCE TO ENABLE THE LORD BISHOP OF GUIANA [Ord. 5 anno ΤΟ CONVEY LANDS FOR THE PURPOSES OF "THE 1869.] PARSONAGE HOUSES ORDINANCE, 1868."

WHEREAS in divers instances Parsonage Houses have been Preamble.

erected upon Lands heretofore conveyed to the Lord Bishop of Guiana and his Successors in the See; And whereas it is expedient that the said Bishop and his Successors should be authorised and empowered to convey to the Vestry of any Parish, or to the District Curate and Chapel Wardens of any incorporated Chapelry, in this Colony Lands so vested in the See, wherein any such Parsonage Houses have been already erected, or which in his or their judgment may be required as sites for Parsonage Houses within the provisions of "The Parsonage Houses Ordinance, 1868;" Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of British Guiana, with the advice and consent of the Court of Policy thereof as follows :

I. It shall be lawful for the Lord Bishop of Guiana and his Power to Successors in the See, to give, grant, transport, and convey to the Bishop to convey Lands for Vestry of any Parish or to any District Curate and Chapel Wardens the purposes of Parsonage incorporated under the provisions of Ordinance No. 18, of the year Houses Ordi1868, in trust for the sole use and benefit of the Incumbent of the Living for the time being and his Successors, and to be used for the purposes of "The Parsonage Houses Ordinance, 1868," any Lands which may have been heretofore transported or conveyed to the said Bishop and his Successors, or which may be now vested in the See, together with the Buildings and Erections thereon, if any; and all such Grants, Transports, and Conveyances may be made and given with or without valuable consideration, and shall be valid and effectual in the Law to all intents and purposes.

(The Proviso of this Section is repealed by Ordinance 19 of 1870.)

WHEREAS by virtue of the Provisions of "the Parsonage

Houses Ordinance, 1868," the Quantity of Land allowed to he held with any Parsonage House under said Ordinance is restricted to Two Acres, and it is expedient that such restriction should be removed, and that the Governor and Court of Policy should be authorised to determine, in each case, the quantity of such Land to be held under the said Ordinance: Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of British Guiana, with the advice and consent of the Court of Policy thereof, as follows:

Preamble.

Enacted 24th July, 1869, published the 28th following, came into operation on publication

WHEREAS at the Annual Meeting of the Honorable the Court

of Policy of the Colony of British Guiana, with the Financial
Representatives of the Inhabitants thereof, in Combined Court
assembled, it was on the Twenty-eighth day of May, in the Year
One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-nine, resolved by the said
Court as follows:

"1. That, in the opinion of this Court, the Funds required for Public Works of a permanent character should be provided, during a limited term of years, by means of a Loan on the security of the Colonial Revenues.

"2. That so long as such Loan shall suffice for the purpose the votes required for the aforesaid Public Works shall be placed on a separate Public Works Estimate to be annually framed and submitted, and that no portion of such Loan shall be appropriated to the service of the Public Works Department without the sanction of this Court to the special object intended having been first obtained.

That the Governor and Court of Policy be authorised to cause Bonds to be issued to an amount not exceeding in the whole Five Hundred Thousand Dollars, charged upon the Public Revenues of the Colony, and redeemable, with Interest thereon at Six Per Cent. per annum, in twentyfive years from the date of issue.

"4. That for the redemption of such Bonds a Sinking Fund at the rate of Three Per Cent. shall be provided for on the Annual Estimates."

Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of British Guiana, with the advice and consent of the Court of Policy thereof, as follows:
