II. Any person having any goods seized under this Ordinance and being desirous of disputing the legality of the seizure, may within fourteen days from such seizure make a claim for such goods, stating specifically his reasons for disputing such legality, and, if on the hearing of such claim the claimant shall be unsuccessful, he shall be condemned in costs, but the person seizing shall in no case be condemned in costs, unless the Court which shall decide the case, shall certify that there was no probable cause for seizure.

12. Every claim made under the last section, and every proceeding in respect of any fine, penalty, or forfeiture under this Ordinance, shall be made and taken before some Stipendiary or Special Justice of the Peace, according to the provisions of, and adjudicated by subject to the review and appeal provided by, Ordinances No. 19 Stipendiary Justice and to of 1856 and Nos. 3 and 5 of 1868: Provided that when there shall be subject to be a claim, and a proceeding for a penalty, both relating to the same matter, they shall be heard and determined by the same Justice,

15. AN ORDINANCE TO VEST IN TRUSTEES CERTAIN MONEYS
VOTED FOR THE SEE OF GUIANA.

Enacted 2nd August, 1872, published the 7th following, came into operation on publication.

WHEREAS at a meeting on the Twenty-eighth day of May,

one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, of the Honourable the Court of Policy, combined with the Financial Representatives. of this Colony, there was granted for the purpose of providing for an episcopal residence for the Bishop of Guiana, the sum of twelve thousand dollars, and whereas it is desirable that this sum should be vested in Trustees in order to carry out this purpose in manner hereinafter provided: Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of British Guiana, with the advice aud consent of the Court of Policy thereof, as follows:

1. WHEREAS it is necessary to amend Ordinance No. 16 of the

year 1854 by repealing section 30 of the said Ordinance and substituting another section for the same: Be it therefore enacted by

WHEREAS it is necessary to provide for the passing of trans

ports of certain Lands which have been heretofore partitioned, but not transported and also of lands which may hereafter be partitioned under Ordinance, and also of lands requiring to be transported under the provisions of certain Ordinances Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of British Guiana, with the advice and consent of the Court of Policy thereof, as follows:

I. All lands of which partition has heretofore been made under the provisions of Ordinance No. 4, of the year 1851, or of Ordinance lands may be No. 1, of the year 1852, or of Ordinance No. 33 of the year 1856, or of Ordinance No. 1, of the year 1866, and which have not yet been transported, and all lands of which partition may hereafter be made under the provisions of any Ordinance which at the time of such partition may be in force relating to the same, and all lands requiring to be transported under any of the provisions of the said Ordinances,
