CHAP. 1128.-An Act Granting a pension to Frances L. Ackley.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Frances L. Ackley. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Frances L. Ackley, late a nurse in the medical department, United States Navy, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month.

Andrews, late of Battery I, Sixth Regiment United States Artillery, war with Spain.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of George W. Barry, late of Company H, Second Regiment United States Volunteer Sharpshooters, and pay him a pension at the rate of sixteen dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Harriet T. Milburn. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Harriet T. Milburn, widow of John T. Milburn, late captain Company B, Tenth Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, June 18, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Archer Bartlett, late of Company K, First Regiment Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month.

CHAP. 1133.-An Act Granting a pension to Mary A. Bailey.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Mary A. Bailey, widow of Charles T. Bailey, late of Companies D and G, Thirty-fourth Regiment Michigan Volunteer Infantry, war with Spain, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month and two dollars per month additional on account of each of the minor children of the said Charles T. Bailey until they reach the age of sixteen years.

Adams, widow of William S. Adams, late acting assistant surgeon, United States Army, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, June 18, 1902.

CHAP. 1141.-An Act To place Henry Biederbick, Julius R. Frederick, Francis Long, and Maurice Connell on the retired list of enlisted men of the Army.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President be, and he Henry Biederbick, is hereby, authorized to cause Henry Biederbick, Julius R. Frederick, Julius R. Frederick. Francis Long, and Maurice Connell, survivors of the Lady Franklin Maurice Connell. Bay expedition, to be enlisted as first-class sergeants of the Signal list. Corps of the Army and to place them on the retired list of the Army, with the pay and allowances, from and after the passage of this Act, of first-class sergeants of the Signal Corps who have been retired after continuous active service of fifteen years. Approved, June 21, 1902.

CHAP. 1142.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to David M. McKnight.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of David M. McKnight, late second lieutenant Company B, One hundred and thirty-eighth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty-four dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Hickox, late of Company G, One hundred and fifty-second Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of sixteen dollars per month.

Smith, late of Company B, Seventh Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of forty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, June 21, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Solomon P. Brockway, late major Ninth Regiment Michigan Volunteer Cavalry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty-four dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, June 21, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United [Private, No. 978.] States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Nelson Johnson, late of Company A, Third Regiment New York Volunteer Light Artillery, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month, the same to be paid to him under the rules of the Pension Bureau as to mode and time of payment, without any deduction or rebate on account of former alleged overpayments or erroneous payments of pension.

CHAP. 1149.-An Act Granting a pension to Wesley Brummett.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pensions laws, the name of Wesley Brummett, late of Company F, Twentyseventh Regiment Missouri Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month, the same to be paid to him under the rules of the Pension Bureau as to mode and times of payment without any deduction or rebate on account of former alleged overpayments or erroneous payments of pension. Culver, widow of Joshua B. Culver, late colonel Thirteenth Regiment Michigan Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month. Approved, June 21, 1902.

CHAP. 1152.-An Act To correct the record of Michael Hayes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to correct the military record of Michael Hayes, late of Company H, Sixty-ninth New York Infantry Volunteers, and to grant him an honorable discharge from such organization and remove the charge of desertion standing against him as a member thereof: Provided, That no pay, bounty, or other emoluments shall become due or payable by virtue of this Act. CHAP. 1153.-An Act For the relief of W. C. Taylor.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to W. C. Taylor, of Mobile, Alabama, the sum of two thousand dollars as compensation for the loss of the steel barge Ora, while in service of the Government during the late war with Spain, on a voyage between Mobile, Alabama, and Santiago de Cuba, said loss having been caused by defective and insufficient towlines and the absence of any crew on board the barge to look after her safety, all of which occurred without any fault on the part of the owner of said barge, the said W. C. Taylor, of Mobile, Alabama.
