States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of May Mosher Chase, widow of Constantine Chase, late lieutenant-colonel, Artillery Corps, United States Army, and pay her a pension at the rate of thirty-five dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving, and two dollars per month additional on account of the minor child of said Constantine Chase until he reaches the age of sixteen years. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to the executors of James P. Willett, deceased, late postmaster of the District of Columbia, who lost his life through an open shaft in the new city post-office building on September thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-ine, the sum of five thousand dollars, to be distributed as provided by the laws of the District of Columbia in cases of recovery of damages for death by negligence. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, directed to pay to Henry P. Montgomery, surviving executor of Granville Garnett, deceased, late of Owen County, State of Kentucky, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one thousand two hundred and eighty dollars and thirty cents, being a refund of the amount paid by said Garnett to the United States, October seventh, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, in satisfaction of a judgment of the United States circuit court for the district of Kentucky against him as surety on a peace bond of one W. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the proper accounting Austin A. Yates. officers of the Treasury be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to settle the accounts of Austin A. Yates, late captain, Fourteenth Veteran Reserve Corps, and to give him credit for the sum of thirteen thousand five hundred and thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents, charged to him on the books of the Second Auditor's Office, said sum having been stolen from the safe of his office at Syracuse, New York, on the night of March twenty-fifth, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, while he was acting provost-marshal of the twenty-third district of New York: Provided, That it shall be made to appear to the satisfaction of said accounting officers that Captain Yates was not responsible for the loss of said moneys. Oliver, late private in Company E, Thirty-third Regiment of Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and to grant him an honorable discharge as of the date of the muster out of said regiment. Lawson two hundred and thirty-seven dollars and ninety-six cents, balance due him for services as United States mail carrier. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Postmaster-General be, and is hereby, directed to pay to John F. Lawson, of Hickman County, Tennessee, the sum of two hundred and thirty-seven dollars and ninety-six cents, being the balance owing to him for services rendered as United States mail carrier on route numbered ten thousand and thirteen, Tennessee, from January first to November twenty-ninth, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, and said sum will be paid out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That Daniel F. Lee shall hereafter be held and considered to have been honorably discharged from the military service of the United States as a private of Company H, Sixth Kansas Cavalry Volunteers, on the first day of August, eighteen hundred and sixty-two, and the Secretary of War is hereby authorized and directed to issue a certificate of honorable discharge for him in accordance with the terms of this Act: Provided, That no pay or other allowance shall be due or payable to any person by reason of the passage of this Act.
