defcribed in Daniel, where these words follow, And Sware by kim that Liveth For Ever. This Oath is the fame with that in St. John's Revelations, and (as I have already fhewn) taken by the fame Perfon, where "The Angel "which ftood upon the Sea, and upon the Earth, "Lifted up His Hand to Heaven,

"And Sware by him that liveth forever and "ever, who Created Heaven, and the Things "that therein are, and the Earth, and the Things "that therein are; and the Sea, and the Things "which are therein,---

It has been already fhewn, who that Angel was, and as the Substance of the Oath which follows, is a Prophecy, fo it was the Character of the High-Prieft in Office to Prophecy; which is obferved by St. John, upon the Advice that Caiphas gave the Jews, viz.

«That

"And this fpake he not of himself, but being "High-Prieft that year, he Prophefied that Jefus fhould dye for that Nation;

"And not for that Nation only, but that also "he fhould gather together the Children of God "that were feattered abroad.” ̈

It was therefore in the Exercise of the Prieftly Office, that the Man Cloathed in Linnen in Daniel, and the Mighty Angel in St. John, are Repre fented as declaring the Will of God.

And in St. John the fame is intended by the following words,

"That there fhould be Time no longer. "But in the Days of the Voice of the Seventh Angel, when he shall begin to Sound, the Myftery of God fhould be finished, as he has de"clared by his Servants the Prophets.

Daniel's Expreffion, That it shall be for a Time, Times, and an half, refers to the Question in the fore-going Verfe,

"How long fhall it be to the End of these Wonders ?

And that Queftion obliges the Reader to observe, That it is at the End of a long Series of Prophecy, which began at Chap. X. and is there introduced in this manner,

"Now I am come to make thee underftand "what shall befall thy People in the Latter Days, "for yet the Vision is for many Days. " And again,

"Buy

"But I will fhew thee that which is noted in 21 "the Scripture of Truth. "

The fame Introduction is to be found in the VIII Chapter, where Gabriel is fent to make him understand the Vision. Who, upon that tells Dan. Daniel, "Understand, O Son of Man, for at the VIII. 16, "Time of the End fhall be the Vision. " And afterwards,

"---- Behold, I will make thee kuow what "shall be in the Laft End of the Indignation, for "at the Time appointed, the End shall be. And concludes,

"--- It shall be for many Days."

And to the fame effect Daniel informs Nebuchadnezzar, That "there is a God in Heaven "that revealeth Secrets, and maketh known to "King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the “Latter Days.

By comparing of all which Characters of the Time, as I did before of the Persons represented in the Visions, it is evident, that the II. VII. VIII. and XII. Chapters of Daniel relate to one and the fame Subject, and are to be made ufe of to Explain and Illustrate one another; and if that is not fufficient to give light to the Prophecy, we will find an entire fatisfaction by obferving where St. John treats of the fame Period, both in the words of Daniel, when he Rev XII fays, that "the Woman is Nourished in the "Wilderness for a Time, Times and half a Time”, and in other Words, which mean the fame thing, Verf. 6, and in one place, relate to the fame "Woman "in the Wilderness that they should feed her "there a Thoufand Two Hundred and Three "Score Days.
