XI.

1. This is the day the FATHER blest,
The brightest of the seven;
Type of an everlasting rest,
Which saints enjoy in heaven.

2. This is the day his Son our Lord, Hath made and called his own, Rising to claim his grand reward, And share his Father's throne.

3. This is the day his SPIRIT shed
Its wond'rous gifts around,
The knowledge of Salvation spread,
The Saviour's promise crowned.

4. Then let us, far from earthly care,
From noise and sin remote;
To meditation, praise, and prayer,
Its sacred hours devote.

1. The pearly light of rising day Has chased black darkness far away,

And bids the Christian warrior rise,
To banish slumber from his eyes;
To fly the shameful deeds of night,
And seize the *panoply of light.

2. Salvation now is drawing near,
And we the victor's wreath shall wear;
No vice should stain th' eventful hours,
No base excess unnerve the powers;
No deeds of envy or of strife,

Should wrest from us the crown of life.

3. The noble warfare we'll begin
The contest with ourselves and sin;
With joy we'll take the arduous field,
Our helmet Hope, and Faith our shield;
A Cross, the streamer we display;
And Christ, the Captain we obey.

The whole armour.

Matt. 21.-1-9.

1. Hosanna to the living Lord, Hosanna to th' Incarnate Word, Hosanna in the earth be said,

And in the heavens, which he hath made.

2. Hosanna, LORD, thine angels cry,
Hosanna, LORD, thy saints reply;
Above, beneath us, and around,
The dead and living swell the sound.

JEHOVAH, with thy promised care, Return to this thy house of prayer, Where two or three thy promise claim, Assembled in thy sacred name.

4. But chiefest in our human breast,
ETERNAL, let thy spirit rest,

And cleanse our secret soul to be
A temple pure and fit for thee.

Luke 21.-25.28.

1. In the Sun, and Moon, and Stars, Signs and wonders shall there be; Earth shall quake with inward wars, Nations with perplexity.

2. Soon shall Ocean's hoary deep,
Tost with angry tempests rise,
Raging storms the mountains sweep,
Pealing thunder rock the skies.

3. Evil thoughts shall haunt the proud, Restless doubt and trembling fear:

Then upon a fiery cloud,

Shall the Judge of man appear.

4. Yet when from his awful face,
Heaven shall fade, and earth shall fly;
Fear ye not his chosen race,
Your redemption draweth nigh.

Mat. 11.-2-10.

1. Oh SAVIOUR! is thy promise fled,
Nor longer might thy grace endure,
To heal the sick, and raise the dead,
And preach thy Gospel to the

poor?

2. Come, blessed LORD, return again, With brighter beams thy servants bless; Who long to greet thy perfect reign,

And share thy kingdom's happiness.

3. Feeble our race, by passion driven,
In darkness and in doubt we roam;
And lift our anxious eyes to heaven,
Our hope, our harbour, and our home.

4. Come, SAVIOUR, come, and as of yore,

Thy prophet went to clear the way, The Harbinger thy feet before,

The dawning of thy brighter day:

5. So may the* stewards of thy word,
True to their great commission prove;
Prepare a people for their Lord,

And haste thine advent from above.
* 1 Cor. 4.-1.

XVI.

1. Lo! he comes in clouds descending,
Once for favour'd sinners slain !
Thousand thousand saints attending,
Swell the triumph of his train :
Hallelujah!

Christ appears to judge and reign.

2. Every eye shall soon behold him,
Robed in dreadful majesty ;

Those who set at nought and sold him,
Pierc'd and nailed him to the tree,
Deeply wailing,

Shall the great Messiah see,
