XXXVI. O Lux Beata Trinitas. 1. Blessed light of triune ray, Though the Sun's bright flame expire, Brighten darkness into day By an inward milder fire. 2. Then, with morning's early song, 3. Let eternal praise proclaim XXXVII. 1. Immortal honour, endless fame, Ascribe unto the FATHER'S name! And let the Son be glorified, Who wept and suffer'd, bled and died : And equal adoration be Eternal SPIRIT paid to thee. XXXVIII. 1. We give immortal praise To die for sins, which man had done, 2. TO GOD THE SON belongs Immortal glory too; Who bought us, with his blood, From everlasting woe; And now he lives, and now, he reigns, To see the fruit of all his pains. 3. TO GOD THE SPIRIT'S name Immortal worship give, Whose new creating pow'r Makes the dead sinner live; His work completes the great design, And fills the soul with joy divine. 4. ALMIGHTY GOD, to thee Be endless honours done, The undivided THREE, And the mysterious ONE; Where reason fails with all her powers, There Faith prevails, and love adores. XXXIX. Josh. X. 12. 1. "Stand still, refulgent Orb of Day!" The Jewish conqueror cries; So shall at last an angel say, 2. A flame intenser than the Sun, 3. Then with immortal splendour bright, That glorious SUN shall rise, + Which thro' eternity shall light The new created skies. 4. Redemption's triumph, then complete; 5. Then Sun of Nature roll along, XL. 1. Great God ! let all my tuneful powers 2. To thee, I raise the annual song; 3. My life, my health, my friends I owe, 4. Thus, will I sing, till nature cease, Till sense, and language be no more; And, after Death, thy love and grace Thro' everlasting years adore. XLI. 1. Again the flight of Time I sing, Thus measuring out the dates of all, 2. A year has pass'd, and with it borne A year begins; but who can know In this uncertain state of things, Time's wide events his counsels plann'd ; 4. Ere men their final doom receive, A little space, a short reprieve, For penitence is giv'n : |
