MEMORANDUM.

Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to permit the 22nd (or Cheshire) regiment of foot to bear upon its regimental or second colour, and also upon its appointments, the word "Scinde," in commemoration of the distinguished gallantry displayed by the regiment in the campaign against the Ameers of Scinde, in the early part of the present year 1843.

The Christopher, Rawson Robson, from China to Singapore, was totally wrecked upon a reef on the night of April 1, near the island of Pula Sapatra. Crew arrived at Manilla, after being thirty-six hours in the boats.

The Sir Andrew Hammond (whaler), Newby, of London, with 700 barrels of sperm oil, has been wrecked on the coast of Peru. Crew saved.

The Osceola, Luke, from Moulmein to London, has been condemned at St. Helena.

The Martha, Smythe, from Bengal to London, arrived at St. Helena, July 11, leaky.

The St. Andrews, Maloney, from Liverpool to the Cape of Good Hope, was destroyed by fire off Waterford, Aug. 30. Crew saved.

The Argo, Billing, has been condemned at Port Louis, Mauritius.

The Tranquilidate (Portuguese), from China to the Sooloo Islands, was lost on the Zambales, coast of Luzon. Crew saved.
