COSTELLO, Sub Coll. (Stamped:) H. M. Customs, Dec. 6 1910, Wood's Island, Nfld. I, John M. McInnis, of Gloucester, in the County of Essex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, being duly sworn, do hereby make affidavit and state as follows: I was in the employ of the Cunningham & Thompson Company, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, a concern engaged in the producing and packing of salt fish, during the year 1910. During a portion of that year, I was master of the company's fishing schooner Talisman. As master of said schooner, I sailed from Gloucester for the Treaty Coast of Newfoundland, clearing from Gloucester for Bay of Islands on November 10, 1900, and returning to Gloucester on December 13, 1900. Attached hereto are a statement of the U. S. Deputy Collector of Customs at Gloucester, Massachusetts, relative to said fishing trip, a certified copy of the inward foreign manifest on the return trip, and a certified copy of the certificate of registry of the vessel, these three documents being marked A, B and C respectively.1 [These documents are not printed because it is practically impossible to reproduce the large number of documents of this character. They are, however, filed subject to inspection. See page 21.-Agent's Note.] The above fishing trip was conducted in the same manner as those which were made in the fishing schooner Aloha in the seasons of 1901-1902, 1904-1905, and 1910-1911, and which are described in an affidavit executed by me this day.1 Statements made in this affidavit, with respect to the methods employed by the schooner Aloha in conducting fishing operations on the Treaty Coast of Newfoundland, and with respect to the acts of the customs authorities and other officials of the Government of Newfoundland in levying duties upon salt, barrels, fishing gear, etc., and in collecting light dues and other charges, are applicable to the above mentioned voyage of the schooner Talisman. The attached paper entitled "Talisman— Memo of Duties Pd at Bay of Islands" and marked "D" is a memorandum which was written and given to me by a customs official of the Government of Newfoundland at Bay of Islands when I entered that port on or about November 20, 1900. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this 19th day of March, A. D. 1924. JOHN M. McINNIS. Subscribed and sworn to before me this 19th day of March, A. D.
