HEREAS an Act was passed in the seventh and eighth years 7 of the reign of His Majesty King George the Fourth, intituled 9 "An Act to appoint Commissioners for carrying into execution 2 & 3 W. 4. "several Acts granting an aid to His Majesty by a Land Tax to be 3 5" raised in Great Britain, and continuing to His Majesty certain 6 "duties on personal estates, offices, and pensions in England:" And whereas several Acts have since been passed appointing Viet. additional Commissioners for carrying those Acts into execution : And whereas it is expedient to appoint additional persons to put c. 62. in execution the several Acts for granting an aid to Her Majesty by a Land Tax in Great Britain, and several other Acts for continuing or granting to Her Majesty rates and taxes:

Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and 15 Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and 51. by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. The several and respective persons herein-after named shall Appointand may and are hereby empowered and authorized (being duly ment of qualified) to put in execution the said Acts, and all the clauses, Commis20 powers, matters, and things whatsoever therein contained, as commissioners in and for the several and respective counties, shires, and places in England and Wales herein-after severally and respectively mentioned and expressed, as fully and effectually as if they had been named with the other commissioners in the said recited Act passed 25 in the seventh and eighth years of the reign of His Majesty King George the Fourth; (that is to say,)

Amend the Law relating to Land Tax, and to repeal certain A.D. 1869. Duties on Offices and Pensions.

HEREAS by an Act passed in the thirty-eighth year of the 39 G. 3. c. 5. reign of King George the Third, chapter five, a land tax to

be raised in Great Britain was granted for the service of the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-eight, and certain persons 5 were appointed to be commissioners for putting the Act in execution within the several counties, ridings, shires, cities, boroughs, cinque ports, towns, and places therein mentioned, and by another Act passed in the same year the several sums of money charged by virtue of the first-recited Act on the said counties, ridings, shires, 10 cities, boroughs, cinque ports, towns, and places in respect of lands and hereditaments lying within the same respectively for one year from the twenty-fifth day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety-eight were continued and made payable yearly to His Majesty, his heirs and successors, from the twenty-fifth day of 15 March in every year for ever, subject to the powers and provisions therein mentioned or referred to as contained in the first-recited Act:

And whereas certain Acts relating to land tax are spent or obsolete, and certain other Acts from time to time passed for the 20 purpose of naming and appointing commissioners for executing the said recited Acts encumber the statute book, and it is expedient to make provision for the purpose of repealing the same:

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, 25 and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited for all purposes as "The Land Tax Short title. Act, 1869."

2. The several Acts specified in the schedule marked (A.) to this Repeal of 30 Act are hereby repealed on the passing of this Act, and the several Acts in

schedules.
