It was not, appa rently, thought desirable to effect an immediate outward change of ceremonies, although the adop tion of the second Prayer Book of Edward VI, in lieu of the first, had effected a great change in the very substance of the Communion Service, with which the theory of the peculiar vestments (the albe and chasuble) was closely connected.
