1 How blest is he who ne'er consents
By ill advice to walk;

Nor stands in sinners' ways, nor sits
Where men profanely talk.

2 But makes the perfect law of God
His business and delight,
Devoutly reads therein by day,
And meditates by night.

3 Like some fair tree, which, fed by streams, With timely fruit does bend,

He still shall flourish, and success
All his designs attend.

4 For God approves the just man's ways, To happiness they tend;

But sinners, and the paths they tread, Shall both in ruin end.

PSALM III. L. M.

1 O God, how endless is thy love!
Thy gifts are ev'ry ev'ning new,
And morning mercies from above
Gently distil like early dew.

2 Thou spread'st the curtain of the night,
Great Guardian of our sleeping hours;
Thy sov'reign word restores the light,
And quickens all our drowsy pow'rs.
3 Lord, may we yield to thy command;
To Thee still consecrate our days:
Perpetual blessings from thine hand
Demand perpetual songs of praise.

PSALM IV. C. M.

1 IN vain the thoughtless world enquires, Forgetful of their God, "Who shall supply all our desires, "Or shew us any good?"

2 Through the wide compass of the earth Their restless wishes rove,

In search of honour, wealth, and mirth, The idols of their love.

3 But oft these shadowy joys elude
Their most intense pursuit;

Or, if they seize the fancied good,
There's poison in the fruit.

4 From this vain world, Lord, wean our Set our affections right;

May we by faith seek joys above,
And walk no more by sight.

[love;

1 LORD, hear the voice of my complaint, Accept my secret pray'r;

To Thee alone, my King, my God,
Will I for help repair.

2 Thou in the morn my voice shalt hear,
And with the dawning day,
To Thee devoutly I'll look up,
To Thee devoutly pray.

3 Oh, may thy Spirit guide my feet
In ways of righteousness;
Make ev'ry path of duty straight,
And plain before my face.

4 To righteous men the righteous Lord
His blessing will extend,
And with His favor all His saints,
As with a shield, defend.

PSALM VI. C. M.

1 IN tender mercy, not in wrath,
Rebuke us, gracious God!
Lest, if thy whole displeasure rise,
We fall beneath thy rod.

O render thanks to God above,....

O Saviour! is thy promise fled,.

O God, my heart is fully bent,....
O God! our help in ages past,.,
O God! 'tis thine to spare and save,..
O Israel's Shepherd, Joseph's Guide,.
O let me, heav'nly Lord, extend,....
O Lord, arise and help thy church,.
O Lord our Rock! to Thee we fly,.....
O praise the Lord, in that blest place.....
O praise ye the Lord,.......

O render thanks and bless the Lord,.

O that the Lord would guide my ways,.........
