This work has received the unqualified recommendation of the conductors of every Universalist press in the country, as well as of almost, if not every clergyman, and a vast number of the laymen of our denomination. The style in which it is issued, the character of the works published, and the terms for which it is furnished, have all met with general approbation. In pursuing the publication, with such flattering encouragement, the publishers are happy to announce that they intend shortly to issue, among others, the following valuable books: An Essay on the Demoniacs of the New Testament. By Hugh Farmer." This is an English work; and the edition we shall issue, will be the first published in this country. It is one of the most useful books now before the public; and is well worth the full price of a year's subscription to the Library. No person who desires a proper knowledge of one of the most important subjects treated of in the New Testament, should be without a copy. It is now in the compositors' hands, and will be issued at an early period. "Universalism against Partialism. By Woodbury M. Fernald." This is a modern work, an edi. tion of which was recently published, and rapidly sold in Boston. The unusual demand for it since it has been out of print, as well as the intrinsic merits of the work itself, has induced the publishers to obtain the privilege of issuing it as a number of the Library. It is a powerful refutation of the doctrine of endless punishment, and a clear exposition and defence of Universalism. The price of the Boston edition was fifty cents; the Library edition will be sold for 12 cents. "Familiar Conversations, in which the Salvation of All Mankind is clearly exhibited and illustrated; and the most important objections which are now brought against the doctrine, are fairly stated and fully answered. By Russell Streeter." This work is too well known to the Universalist public, to need much commendation here. It has already gone through two large editions, and the third has for some time been loudly called for. And we are sure that nothing which we could publish would be more welcome to our denomination, or more useful to our cause. It will appear in our next number. Letters to Rev. Joel Hawes, D. D, in Reply to the Orthodox Tract, No. 224, entitled 'Reasons for not embracing the doctrine of Universal Salvation.' By Hosea Ballou, 2nd." The Tract of Hawes to which this is a Reply, is considered by the opposers of our doctrine generally, as a perfect refutation of Universalism; and hence they have spared no pains in giving it an extensive circulation. The Reply of Mr. Ballou, however, exposes very clearly the fallacy of all the positions of Dr. Hawes, and is a most valuable defence of our religious sentiments. "The Universalist Belief:" containing a concise statement of the doctrinal views of the Universalist denomination. By Asher Moore. This also is a work of great merit; and one which has been eagerly sought after. The only edition as yet published, was speedily disposed of, and we have been unable to supply many orders which have recently been received. It is written in a chaste and forcible style, and furnishes as clear an exposition of, and convincing argument for the main points of our faith as any other book ever issued from our press. The Library edition will cost but one-fourth the price of the one heretofore published. "Latest News from three Worlds,) Heaven, Earth, and Hell :) as reported at a Four-days meeting in Shirley, Mass., in Letters to Eight Calvinistic Ministers. By Russell Streeter." This work is of a local character; though, perhaps no less valuable on that account. It is a spicy production, and will serve to give a useful variety to the character of the works published. In sending out the numbers of the second volume of the Library, we shall pay no regard to the old subscription list. All, therefore, who desire the work continued, must give us notice to that effect, and forward the price of subscription, in advance. We do not intend in any instance, to deviate from this rule. The main object of the work is to furnish the public with the most useful UNIVERSALIST BOOKS at about one-fourth the price for which they hav heretofore been sold. Entre works will be published in the Library," and the numbers issued in the course of every ten months, will make a volume of 480 pages, and contain some half dozen at least, of rare and useful books. The most of these works will be in explanation, advocacy, and defence, of the peculiar doctrines of the Universalist Faith, though publications not bearing directly upon these doctrines, will occasionally obtain a place in the pages of the Library. The terms of the Library are so very low, and the beneficial influence it is calculated to exert is so very great, that it is hoped it will receive the approval and patronage of almost every Universalist in the country.
