A., 1894, add, "As the section enables a registered owner, not only absolutely to dispose' of shares, but also to give effectual receipts' for the purchase money, it enables him to enter into a valid contract as to the application of the purchase money, and therefore the purchasers' right under such a contract to apply part of the purchase money in discharge of the vendor's debt to the ship, a right in which the purchasers, being already partowners, were pecuniarily interested, took precedence over a prior unregistered mortgage. An Act to amend section seventy-eight of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, with respect to the deduction of the space occupied by propelling power in ascertaining the tonnage of a ship.

Be it enacted, &c.
