2. How surely stablish'd is thy throne,
Which shall no change or period see:
For thou, O Lord, and thou alone,
Art God from all eternity.

3. The floods, O Lord, lift up their voice,
And toss the troubled waves on high;
But God above can still their noise,
And make the angry sea comply.

4. Thy promise, Lord, is ever sure;
And they, that in thy house would dwell,
That happy station to secure,
Must still in holiness excel.

PSALM 94. (C. M.)

The Blessedness of God's guidance.

1. BLEST is the man, whom thou, O Lord,
In kindness dost chastise;
And by thy sacred rules to walk
Dost lovingly advise.

2. For God will never from his saints
His favour wholly take;
His own possession and his lot
He will not quite forsake.

3. The world shall then confess thee just
In all that thou hast done;

And those who choose thy upright paths,
Shall in those paths go on.

4. My sure defence is firmly stood
In Thee, the Lord most high;
Thou art my Rock, to which I may
For refuge always fly.

PSALM 95. Version 1. (S. M.)

At the opening of Divine Worship.
COME sound his praise abroad,
And hymns of glory sing,
Jehovah is the sovereign God,
The universal King.

2.

Come, worship at his throne,

Come, bow before the Lord;

We are his work and not our own;
He form'd us by his word.

3. To-day attend his voice,

Nor dare provoke his rod;
Come, like the people of his choice,
Come, own your gracious Lord.

PSALM 95. Version 11. (L. M.)

At the opening of Divine Service.

1. OH come, loud anthems let us sing,
Loud thanks to our Almighty King;
For we our voices high should raise,
When our salvation's Rock we praise.

2. Into his presence let us haste,
To thank him for his favours past;
To him address, in joyful songs,
The praise which to his Name belongs.

3. For God the Lord, enthron'd in state, Is with unrival'd glory great;

The strength of earth is in his hand,
He made the sea, and fix'd the land.

4. O let us to his courts repair,
And bow with adoration there;
Down on our knees devoutly all
Before the Lord our Maker fall.
PSALM 96. Version 1. (C. M.)

The glory of Christ proclaimed.

1. SING to the Lord, ye distant lands,
Ye tribes of every tongue!
His new-discover'd grace demands
A new and nobler song.

2. Heralds, commission'd from the skies, The glorious Name display;

Ye mountains sink, ye valleys rise;
Prepare the Lord his way!

3. Say to the nations, Jesus reigns,
God's own Almighty Son!

His power the sinking world sustains,
And grace surrounds his throne.

4. Behold he comes! he comes to bless
The nations, as their God;

To show the world his righteousness,
And send his truth abroad.

PSALM 96. Version II. (L. M. D.)

Blessings of Messiah's Kingdom.

1. SING to the Lord a new made song; Let earth in one assembled throng,

Her common Patron's praise resound. Sing to the Lord and bless his name, From day to day his praise proclaim,

Who us hath with salvation crown'd. To heathen lands his fame rehearse, His wonders to the universe.

2. Proclaim aloud, Jehovah reigns!
Whose pow'r the universe sustains,
And banish'd justice will restore.
Let, therefore, heav'n new joys confess,
And heav'nly mirth let earth express.
Its loud applause let ocean roar ;
All its inhabitants rejoice,

And for this triumph find a voice.
3. For joy let fertile valleys sing,
The cheerful groves their tribute bring;
The tuneful choir of birds awake,
The Lord's approach to celebrate :
Who now sets out with awful state,

His circuit through the earth to take:
From heav'n to judge the world he's come,
With justice to reward and doom.

PSALM 97. Part I. (L. M.)

Christ Reigning and coming to Judgment.

1. HE reigns, the Lord, the Saviour reigns,
Praise him in evangelic strains;
Let the whole earth in songs rejoice,
And distant islands join their voice.
2. Deep are his counsels and unknown,
But grace and truth support his throne;
Though gloomy clouds his ways surround,
Justice is their eternal ground.

3. In robes of judgment, lo! he comes, Shakes the wide earth, and cleaves the tombs;

Before him burns devouring fire,

The mountains melt, the seas retire,

I

4. His enemies with sore dismay,

Fly from the sight and shun the day;
Then lift your heads, ye saints, on high,
And sing, for your redemption's nigh.

PSALM 97. Part II. (L. M.)
Grace leading to Glory.

1. JEHOVAH reigns, exalted high
O'er all the earth, o'er all the sky;
Tho' clouds and darkness veil his feet,
His dwelling is the mercy-seat.

2. O ye, that love his holy name,

Hate ev'ry work of sin and shame!
He guards the souls of all his friends,
And from the snares of hell defends.
3. Immortal light, and joys unknown,
Are for the saints in darkness sown:
These glorious seeds shall spring and rise,
And the bright harvest bless our eyes.
4. Rejoice, ye righteous, and record
The sacred honours of the Lord;
None but the soul that feels his grace,
Can triumph in his holiness.

PSALM 98. Part 1. (8. 7. 4.)
Salvation for the Heathen.

1. SONGS anew of honour framing,
Sing ye to the Lord alone:

All his wondrous works proclaiming,
Jesus wondrous works hath done!
Glorious victory-

His right hand and arm hath won!
