He who has any experience of mankind, will be cautious to whom he dedicates. Publickly to bestow praise on merit of which the publick is not fenfible, or to raise flattering expectations which are never fulfilled, muft fink the character of an authour, and make him appear a cringing parasite, or a fond enthusiast.
