Aunt Phillis's Cabin: Or, Southern Life as it is
Lippincott, Grambo, 1852 - 280페이지
A genre of pro-slavery writing developed immediately after the publication of Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin, which is referred to as Anti-Tom or Plantation literature. These books sought to discredit Beecher Stowe's novel by showing that the negative portrayal of slavery expressed in her book was exaggerated, incorrect or that the institution of slavery was, in fact, actually beneficial to black people. This volume is one of at least eight Anti-Tom books published in 1852 and was the most popular, selling around 25,000 copies.
