9 And they made a Proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring into the LORD the COLLECTION that Moses the Servant of God laid upon Israel in the Wilderness.
10 And all the Princes, and all the People ReJOYCED, and brought in, and cast into the Chest, until they had made an end.
i Now it came to pass, that at what Time the Chest was brought into the King's Office by the Hand of the Levites; and when they saw that there was much Money: the King's Scribe, and the High Priest's Officer came and emptied the Chest, and took it, and carried it to his Place again. Thus they did Day by Day, and gathered Money in abundance.
12 And the King and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the Work of the Service of the House of the LORD, and hired Masons and Carpenters to repair the House of the LORD.
13 And they set the House of God in his State, and strengthened it.
14 And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the Money before the King and Jehoiada, whereof were made Veliels for the House of the LORD: and they offered Burnt-offerings in the House of the LORD CONTINUALLY, all the Days of Jehoiada.
15 But Jehoiada was full of Days when he died, an hundred and thirty Years old was he when he died.
16 And they buried him in the City of David, AMONG the KINGS, because he had done Good in Israel, both towards God, and towards his House.
17 Now after the Death of Jehoiada, came the PRINCES of Judah, and made Obeisance to the King : then the King HEARKNED unto them.
18 And they left the House of the LORD God of their Fathers, and served Groves and IDOLS : and WRATH came upon Judah for this their TresPASS.

IT is observed by the learned Dr. Lightfoot, That the Mur
I der of Zacharias the Prophet in the Court of the Temple, was the Beginning of the Ruin of Judah, whereby they plainly shew'd, that they despised and rejected the LORD, his TEMPLE, PRIESTHOOD, and PROPHECY; and from that Time did their State decay, of which they were forewarn'd by the Prophet Hosea,
Chap. iv. Ver, i Hear the Word of the LORD, ye Children of Israel : for the LORD hath a CONTROVERSY with the Inhabitants of the Land, because there is no TRUTH, nor Mercy, nor KNOWLEDGE of God in the Land.
2 By SwEARING, and LYING, and KILLING, and STEALING, and committing ADULTERY, they break out, and Blood toucheth Blood.
3 Therefore shall the Land MOURN, and every one that dwelleth therein shal) LANGUISH, with the Beasts of the Field, and with the Fowls of Heaven, yea, the Fishes of the Sea also shall be taken away.
4 Yet let no Man strive, nor reprove another : for thy People are as they that strive with the Priest.
5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the Day, and the Prophet also Mall fall with thee in the Night, and I will destroy thy Mother.
6 My People are DESTROYED for LACK OF KNOWLEDGE: because thou hast rejected Knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no Priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the Law of thy God, I will alio forget thy Children.

2 And he did that which was Evil in the fight of the LORD, and followed the Sins of Jeroboam, which made Ilrael to sin, he departed not therefrom.
3 And the ANGER of the LORD was kindled against Ilrael, and he DELIVERED them into the Hand of Hazael King of Syria, and into the Hand of Benhadad the Son of Hazael, all their Days.
4 And Jehoahaz BESOUGHT the LORD, and the LORD HEARKNED unto him : for he saw the OPPRESSION of Ilrael, because the King of Syria opprefled them.
5 (And the LORD gave Israel a Saviour, so that they went out from under the Hand of the Syrians : and the Children of Israel dwelt in their Tents, as besoretime.
6 Nevertheless they departed not from the Sins of the House of Jeroboam, but walked therein, and there remained the Grove also in Samaria.)
7 Neither did he leave of the People to Jehoahaz, but fifty Horsemen, and ten Chariots, and ten thousand Footmen; for the King of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the Dust by THRESHING.
9 And Jehoahaz lept with his Fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Joalh his Son reigned in his stead.
10 In the thirty and seventh Year of Joash King of Judah, began Jehoash the Son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned fixteen Years.

15 And Elisha said unto him, Take Bow and Arrows : and he took unto him Bow and Arrows.
16 And he said to the King of Israel, Put thine Hand upon the Bow : and he put his Hand upon it: and Elisha put his Hands upon the King's Hands.
17 And he said, Open the Window Eastward : and he opened it. Then Elitha said, Shoot : and he shot. And he said, The ARROW of the Lord's DELIVERANCE, and the Arrow of Deliverance from Syria : for thou shalt smile the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
18 And he said, Take the Arrows : and he took them. And he said unto the King of Israel, Smite upon the Ground : and he smote thrice, and stayed.
19. And the Man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldst have smitten five or six times, then hadít thou smitten Syria, till thou hadit consumed it: whereas now thou shalt imite Syria but thrice.
