Before he became the first president of the United States, George Washington was a frontiersman. Sterling North was one of America's most beloved writers of books for young readers. After attending the University of Chicago, he worked as a reporter and literary editor for newspapers in Chicago and New York before turning to a full-time writing career. His awards included a Newbery Honor, a Young Reader's Choice Award, and a Sequoyah Book Award, among others.
