What in thy love possess I not?
My star by night, my sun by day ;
My spring of life, when parch'd by drought,
My wine to cheer, my bread to stay!
In suffering, be thy love my peace;
In weakness, be thy love my power:
And when the storms of life shall cease,
Oh, take me, take me in that hour.

HYMN 123. S. M.

SATAN, the world, and sin
Entice me from my God;
Tempt me to leave the heav'nly path,
And tread the downward road.

O thou, who on the cross

Didst for my sins atone,
Altho' rebellious and perverse,
Do not a child disown.

Thine by a thousand ties

Lam, and still would be;
Strengthen my faith, renew my love,
And draw my soul to thee.

HYMN 124. L. M.

JESUS, my all, to heav'n is gone,
He whom I fix my hopes upon :
His path I see, and I'll pursue
The narrow way, till him I view.
This is the way the prophets went,
The way that leads from banishment;
The King's highway of holiness,
The path of pleasantness and peace.

This is the way I long had sought,
And mourned because I found it not:
My grief a burden long had been,
Oppressed with unbelief and sin.
Now shall my life to all around
Proclaim the Saviour I have found :
I'll point to the redeeming blood,
"Behold the way to God!"

And say,

HYMN 125. L. M.

My times are in thy hand, and thou Wilt guide my footsteps at thy will: Lord, to thy purposes I bow,

Do thou thy purposes fulfil. Life's mighty waters roll along,

Thy Spirit guides them as they roll; And waves on waves impetuous throng At thy command, at thy control. By thee upheld, we look to thee,

And, with a humbled, prostrate will, Lord, in thine all-sufficiency

Would find a hope to love thee still.'

HYMN 126. L. M.

WHILE in the world we still remain,
We only meet to part again;

But when we reach the heav'nly shore,
We then shall meet to part no more.
The hope that we shall see that day,
Should chase our present griefs away;
A few short years of conflict past,
We meet around the throne at last.

Then let us here improve the-hours,
To him with zeal devote our pow'rs,
Direct them to a Saviour's praise;
And run with joy the paths of grace.

HYMN 127. S. M.

AND shall I sit alone,

Opprest with grief and fear,

To Christ the faithful make my moan,

And he refuse to hear?

If he my Saviour be,

His pity he will shew;
From cruel bondage set me free,

And inward peace bestow.

If still he silence keep,

'Tis but my faith to try;

He knows, and feels, whene'er I weep,

And softens ev'ry sigh.

Then will I humbly wait,

Nor once indulge despair;

My sins are great, but not so great
As his compassions are.

HYMN 128. C. M.

CHILDREN of God, who pacing slow,
Your pilgrim path pursue,

In strength and weakness, joy and woe,
To God's high calling true,—

Why move ye thus, with ling'ring tread, A doubtful, mournful band?

Why faintly hangs the drooping head? Why fails the feeble hand?

Cheer up the Lord, tho' veil'd awhile,

up

He hides his noontide ray,

Shall soon in holy freshness smile,
To gild your closing day.

HYMN 129. L. M.

HARK! a voice, it cries from heaven,
Happy in the Lord who die;
Happy they, to whom 'tis given
From a world of grief to fly.
All their toils and conflicts over,
Lo, they dwell with Christ above;
O, what glories they discover
In the Saviour, whom they love.
'Tis enough, enough for ever;
'Tis his people's bright reward;
They are blest indeed, who never
Shall be absent from their Lord.

HYMN 130. C. M.

OUR Father sits on yonder throne,
Amidst the hosts above;

He reigns throughout the world alone,
He reigns the God of love.

He knew us when we knew him not,
Was with us, tho' unseen;
His favours came to us unsought,
His love has wondrous been.

He keeps us now, securely keeps,
Whatever foe assails,

With vigilance that never sleeps,
With power, that never fails.

HYMN 131. L. M.

WHENE'ER to call the Saviour mine
With ardent wish my heart aspires,
Can it be less than power divine,

Which animates these strong desires? And when my cheerful hope can say, "I love my God, and taste his grace;" Lord, is it not thy sacred ray

That brings this dawn of holy peace? O let thy Spirit in my heart

For ever dwell, thou God of love; And truth, and light, and joy impart, Sweet earnest of the joys above.

HYMN 132. L. M.

CREATOR Spirit, by whose aid
The world's foundations first were laid,
Come, visit every humble mind,
Come pour thy joys on all mankind.
Thrice holy Fount, thrice heav'nly Fire,
Our hearts with heav'nly love inspire:
Come, and thy sacred unction bring
To sanctify us, while we sing.

Chase from the mind th' infernal foe,
And peace, the fruit of love, bestow;
And lest our feet should walk astray,
Protect and guide us in thy way.
Make us eternal truths receive,
And practise all that we believe :
Give us thyself, that we may see
The Father and the Son by thee.
