HYMN 198. P. M.

WEARY Souls, that wander wide
From the source of heav'nly bliss,
Turn to Jesus crucified,

Fly to those dear wounds of his :
Sink into the purple flood!
Rise unto the life of God!
Find in Christ the way of peace,
Peace, unspeakable, unknown:
By his pains he gives you ease,
Life, by his expiring groan !
Rise exalted by his fall,
Find in Christ your all in all !

O believe the record true,
God to you his Son has giv'n!
Ye may now be happy too,

Find on earth the life of heav'n;
Live the life of heav'n above,
All the life of heavenly love.

HYMN 199. C. M.

THE Gospel comes with welcome news To sinners lost like me;

Their various schemes let others choose, Saviour, I come to thee.

Of merit now I cannot speak,

For merit I have none; I'm justified for Jesu's sake,

I'm saved by grace alone.

'Twas grace my wayward heart first won, "Tis grace that holds me fast;

May grace complete the work begun,
And save me to the last.

Then shall my soul with rapture trace

What God hath done for me, And celebrate redeeming grace Throughout eternity.

HYMN 200. L. M.

CHILDREN of the heavenly King,
As ye journey, sweetly sing;
Sing your Saviour's worthy praise,
Glorious in his works and ways.
We are travelling home to God
In the way our fathers trod;
They are happy now; and we
Soon their happiness shall see.
Foes are round us, but we stand
On the borders of our land;
Jesus, God's exalted Son,
Bids us undismayed go on.
Onwards then we'll gladly press
Thro' this earthly wilderness;
Only, Lord, our leader be,
And we still will follow thee.

HYMN 201. L. M.

WHEN fears arise, be strong of heart, God comes in wrath, but not for thee; He comes his comforts to impart

To trembling hands, and feeble knee. The blind shall see, the deaf shall hear,

The dumb shall raise their notes for him: The lame shall leap like bounding deer,

The thirsty drink the chrystal stream.

There is a way, a holy way,

Where unclean feet shall never tread; From it the lowly shall not stray;

There shall the penitent be led.

There God's redeem'd shall walk with him,
With songs of joy, by night and day ;
The tears of grief no eye shall dim,
But sighs and sorrows flee away.

HYMN 202. L. M.

SWEET the moments, rich in blessing,
Which before the cross I spend ;
Life, and health, and peace possessing,
From the dying sinner's Friend.
Truly blessed is this station,

Low before the cross to lie ;
While I see divine compassion
Beaming in his gracious eye.
Here it is I feel my heaven,
While upon the Lamb I gaze;
Here I see my sins forgiven,

Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

May I still enjoy this feeling,

Still to my Redeemer go;

Find his blood each day more healing,
And himself more fully know.

HYMN 203. L. M.

THE Countless multitudes on high,
Who tune their songs to Jesu's name,

All merit of their own deny,

And Jesu's worth alone proclaim.

P

With spotless robe of purest white,
And branches of triumphal palm,
They raise, with transports of delight,
Heaven's ceaseless, universal psalm;-
"Salvation's glory all be paid

To him, who sits upon the throne,
And to the Lamb, whose blood was shed;
Thou, thou art worthy, thou alone."

HYMN 204. L. M.

WHEN Jesus dwelt in mortal clay,
What were his works, from day to day,
But blessed deeds of power and grace,
That spread his mercies thro' our race !
Teach us, O Lord, to keep in view
Thy pattern, and thy steps pursue;
Let works of love, and kindness done,
Be seen by each revolving sun.
So let us mark from day to day
In gen'rous acts our Christian way;
Tread the same path our Saviour trod,
The path to glory and to God.

HYMN 205. L. M.

THRO' every age, our Saviour he
The same hath been, the same shall be ;
Immortal truth shall gild his head,

When sun, and moon, and stars shall fade.
The same his power, his flock to guard;
The same his bounty, to reward;
The same his faithfulness and love
To saints on earth, and saints above.

Let nature change, and sink, and die,
Jesus shall raise his people high,
And fix them near his starry throne,
In glory deathless as his own.

HYMN 206.

"TIs my happiness below

L. M.

Not to live without the cross; But the Saviour's power to know, Sanctifying ev'ry loss.

Trials must and will befal,

But with humble faith to see
Love inscribed upon them all,
This is happiness to me.
Trials make the promise sweet;
Trials give new life to prayer;
Trials bring me to his feet,
Lay me low, and keep me there.

HYMN 207. L. M.

O LORD, tho' bitter is the cup

Thy gracious hand deals out to me, I cheerfully would drink it up,

That cannot hurt, which comes from thee. Wash it with thine unchanging love,

Let not a drop of wrath be there;
The saints, for ever blest above,
Were often most afflicted here.

From Jesus, our incarnate God,
I'll learn obedience to thy will;
And humbly kiss the chastening rod,
Tho' its severest force I feel.
