As a great portion of your valuable life has been spent in forwarding the cause of humanity in the most useful and honourable way; so I have thought it a befitting compliment to yourself, and, if such trifling notice can be grateful, a proper reward for your zeal, to dedicat to you a poem conceived with similar views; and thus to place your name before the public, as one of the essential benefactors of mankind.
