EXTRACTS FROM PRESS NOTICES.

One of the best treatises we have seen, certainly the best we have reviewed for some years. It has been specially designed for the Woollen and Worsted trade and should take rank as the Standard Work on Book-keeping and Accounts in such business. Remarkable for its technical accuracy."-The Accountant, June 29th, 1889.

"Mr. Norton has provided a text book, not merely of undoubted merit, but which will be recognised as an authority. He shows that he is thoroughly acquainted with all, even the minutest details of a textile manufacturer's business. Nothing appears to

have escaped notice, and every transaction is explained and illustrated by an example. . . . Altogether this book is the most complete work on the subject that has issued from the press and yet exceedingly simple, excluding everything that tends to increase the labour of the counting house without any corresponding value."-Textile Recorder.

"This work is in every sense of a thoroughly practical character clear, concise and comprehensive. Words of ours

PREFACE

TO THE THIRD EDITION.

THE previous editions have been carefully revised and in many minor matters improved, but substantially the structure of the book is unchanged.

The utility of the system of Book-keeping which the book explains has been confirmed by the experience of nearly six years' working in very varied circumstances since the publication of the first edition.

The Author has had the gratification of finding, in numerous instances, that the book has been utilised in trades widely different from those for which it is specially designed; and the large number of letters which he has received relating to questions of detail prove that the book has been carefully studied and that its teaching has been intelligently applied.

Huddersfield, October, 1894.
