PSALM V. C. M. FIRST VERSION. Prayer to God, as a holy and gracious God. 1 INCLINE thine ear, O Lord, and let 2 Such as be foolish shall not stand Thou ever hast abhorr'd. 3 I therefore to thy house will come, 4 Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, 5 Thou with thy favour wilt increase And with thy grace, as with a shield, Defend their souls from ill. For the Lord's Day Morning. 1 LORD, in the morning thou shalt hear My voice ascending high; To thee will I direct my prayer, 2 Up to the hills, where Christ is gone 3 Thou art a God, before whose sight 4 But to thy house will I resort, 5 O may thy Spirit guide my feet The Penitent's Prayer and Triumph. 1 SPARE me, Lord, nor o'er my head The fullness of thy vengeance shed; With pitying eye my weakness view, Heal my vex'd soul, my strength renew. 2 And O, if yet my sins demand The wise corrections of thy hand, Yet give my pains their bounds to know, 3 While clouds of grief around me roll, PSALM VII. The Glory and Condescension of the Creator. 1 THOU, to whom all creatures bow, Within this earthly frame; Through all the world how great art thou ; 2 When heav'n, thy beauteous work on high, Employs my wond'ring sight: The moon that nightly rules the sky, 3 What's man, say I, that, Lord, thou lovʼst To keep him in thy mind? Or what his offspring, that thou prov'st 4 0 thou, to whom all creatures bow, Through all the world how great art thou! PSALM IX. C. M.
