In 1619, the same dignity was created in Ireland, upon the same terms; and shortly before the death of King JAMES, the plantation of the province of Nova Scotia, in North America, was assigned as a cause for extending the same offers to the landed proprietors of Scotland. The King did not live to fulfil his intention, but CHARLES I., his son and successor, soon after his accession, created the first Baronet of Nova Scotia. The rank of Baronet is the last of the hereditary titles. xlvi OF THE LORDS SPIRITUAL AND TEMPORAL, In the First Session of the Seventeenth Parliament OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND.
