THEA

SALE OF ENGLISH BOOKS IN AMERICA.

THE undersigned beg to invite the attention of Booksellers and Publishers to the facilities afforded by their establishment for the Sale of Books, Engravings, Stationery, &c. conductors of the

REGULAR NEW YORK TRADE SALES

They are the

OF BOOKS, STEREOTYPE PLATES, STATIONERY, and all MERCHANDISE of this class, which are held by them semi-annually, under the direction of a Committee appointed by the Trade, and which have been thus conducted by them more than ten years. It is believed that these Sales afford means superior to any other for the introduction to the notice of the American Trade both of surplus and new stock adapted to circulation in the United States. These are the only sales held in New York which are patronised by the leading and most extensive houses, and are fully attended by the dealers of the United States and Canadas. Their next sale of English Books will take place early in September, and they will be happy to include in their Catalogue any consignments the particulars of which may be furnished to their agents.

They also tender their services in the disposal of all property appropriate to their line of business, whether by auction or private sale. Doing exclusively a Commission Business, they have no other interests to serve than those of consignors, who, therefore, may rely on faithful and prompt attention.

Liberal Cash advances will be made when required.

MR. SAMPSON LOW, 169, FLEET STREET, is their AGENT IN LONDON, and will exhibit Catalogues of previous Sales, and afford all needful explanations.

10 be DISPOSED of, a BOOKSELLING, STATIONERY, FANCY GOODS, and PERFUMERY BUSINESS, in a rising Market Town in South Wales. The business being only of recent establishment, nothing would be required for the good-will, but any one purchasing the stock and fixtures at their cost price could at once enter upon it. The stock has been carefully selected and well kept, and consists principally of stationery and fancy goods, and amounts to about £325. Satisfactory reasons can be given for the present proprietor leaving. Apply to R. S. T. care of Messrs. Hamilton and Co. 33, Paternoster Row.

[ocr errors][merged small]

TO BE DISPOSED OF, in one of the largest Market Towns in the West of England, the BUSINESS of a Bookseller, Printer, and General Stationer. The Trade has been conducted on the same premises, which are very commodious, for upwards of 50 years. The Stock, consisting chiefly of Stationery and Printing Materials, is modern and well selected. To an active person, with a capital of £1,200 or £1,500, this is an opportunity which rarely occurs.

There is little or no competition in the town, and the business is of the most respectable and lucrative description, and satisfactory reasons will be given for its being disposed of. Letters only, addressed (post paid) B. H. care of Messrs. Barker and White, 33, Fleet Street, London, will receive prompt attention.
