The testimonials from the press have been in the highest degree satisfactory. The English Churchman, in speaking of" the positive claims and merit" of this work" upon the notice of religious families," awards to us also a high meed of praise. It says that "our volumes not only contain a large collection of the

very best Music of the Church, but an immense amount of practical information, sound criticism, and suggestions adapted for every one who takes any part or interest in the revival of Church Music." HOME AND COLONIAL LIBRARY,

COMPLETE IN 37 VOLUMES.

THIS series of attractive and useful works, by approved authors, was designed to furnish the HIGHEST LITERATURE of the day, at the lowest possible price, and was commenced in consequence of the Acts which had passed the British Parliament for the protection of Copyright, and the rights of British authors and publishers, by the entire exclusion, both in GREAT BRITAIN and HER COLONIES, of foreign pirated editions; and the volumes have been issued at a price which places them within the means not only of the Colonists, but also of the less wealthy classes at home, who are thus benefited by the widening of the market for our literature.

The aim of the Publisher was to produce a Series of Works as entertaining as romances, but conveying & the same time sound information.

The "HOME AND COLONIAL LIBRARY" having thus been sustained during a period of Six years with unabated success, Mr. Murray, anxious to guard against the objection of overloading the subscribers with too large and cumbrous a series of books of one size, has decided on concluding the work with its thirtyseventh volume. He is thus enabled to offer to the public a compact and portable work, the bulk of which does not exceed the compass of a single shelf, or of one trunk, suited for all classes and all climates-of which the interest, value, and popularity is not likely to be impaired by lapse of time.

At the same time the large circulation of the "Home and Colonial Library," and the continued demand for back numbers, convince him that there is an unabated desire on the part of the public for reading, at once cheap, popular, and instructive; he is therefore preparing speedily to put forth a New Library, which, though equally portable, shall be even more elegant in typography than the last, and shall surpass, or at least maintain, its literary value and general attraction.

ASSUMED COPYRIGHT in FOREIGN

AUTHORS.-A Circular issued by Messrs. Ewer and Co. appeared in the last "Publishers' Circular," cautioning the public against selling the "Pianista," No. CXI. containing the Music in Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Night's Dream." In answer to this, the proprietor begs to refer to the "Publishers' Circular" of October 1st (page 330), where the case of a foreigner's right to copyright is fairly stated in the case of Boosey v. Purday. The Proprietor of the "Pianista" has not, for a moment, ceased selling the number in question, and will, on the evidence of damages being completed, bring an action against Messrs. Ewer and Co. for their attempt to injure the "Pianista." Booksellers in Town and Country will therefore confer an obligation on the Proprietor if they will state that they have been prevented selling the work in consequence of Messrs. Ewer's Circular.

TO PRINTERS, BOOKSELLERS, STAdirect the attention of parties in search of any of the TIONERS, and Others.-Mr. Page begs to above-mentioned Trades, having a great variety for sale from £100 to £5000 in value, in Town and Country.-Application by letter, or otherwise, will Moorgate Street, Bank. meet with immediate attention by Mr. Page, 28,

-To be disposed of, an old-established CONCERN, in the above line, in a first-rate thoroughfare at the west end of the town, where a good business may be done in the wholesale and retail trade, with a 26 years' unexpired lease. Probable amount required from £400 to £500. To an active young man the above concern is highly advantageous. The Wholesale Department of Manufacturing Wax, Wafers, &c. has been successfully carried on for a number of years. The domestic arrangements of the house are complete for a small family. The reasons for disposal will be satisfactorily explained. — Particulars may be obtained of Mr. Page, 28, Moorgate Street, Bank.
