The 1973 program includes further efforts to redirect the activities under REAP according to the precepts expressed by the President in his announcement of the 1971 REAP. Continued emphasis is placed on practices and priorities to accomplish the program objective of solving, in the public interest, critical conservation and environmental problems related to farming operations, and thereby improving the Nation's rural soil, water, woodland, wildlife, and other environmental resources for the present and the future. CHANGES FOR 1973 Procedural and policy revisions for the 1973 program are set forth in Amendment 2 to 1-RE. They are identified in the amendment transmittal. The amendment has gone to the printer and will be distributed to all States as soon as printing has been completed. STATE AND COUNTY DEVELOPMENT OF THE 1973 PROGRAM Follow the program development procedures in 1-RE. A State program development groups should convene as soon as practicable AFTER the regional meetings are held. Notification of the time and place for such meetings will be given as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made. B County program development groups should convene to develop their 1973 county programs as soon as practicable after CCC's are notified by the STC of the State REAP for 1973. |
