dry dock, the elevator Leo Gilchrist, and the steamer
Edward J. Gay in New Orleans Harbor, La. In charge
of the defensive works at Forts Porter, Niagara, and
Ontario, N. Y. In charge of the improvement of the har-
bors at Charlotte, Great Sodus Bay, Little Sodus Bay,
Oswego, Sacketts Harbor, and Pultneyville, N. Y. In
charge of water-level observations on Lake Ontario.
Member of Boards of Engineer Officers on building and
repair of levees on the Mississippi River; to select the
localities and apportion the funds for the construction of
levees under the allotment approved by the Secretary of
