PREFACE. THE proposed object of this little publication is, to combine a few details of every-day life in India with a slight sketch of the religious state of the Hindoos and the labours of Missionaries, so as to bring those distant scenes more clearly to the mind of the youthful reader; and awaken a more intelligent and lively interest in the spiritual welfare of our Heathen fellowsubjects. The writer sends it forth, with the earnest hope and prayer, that He, whose strength is made perfect in our weakness, may be pleased to bless this humble effort for the extension of His kingdom.
