This kind of poetry contains the Stances, the Ode, the Chanson, the Triolet, the Rondeau and Rondeau redoublé, the Ballade and Ballade redoublée, the Chant royal and the Sonnet.

I.

The Stance (stanza) is a group composed of similar verses reappearing in the same number and order, and presenting a complete meaning.

There are stanzas from two to ten feet.

The stanzas of two verses are called in French distique.

The Ode is composed of stanzas, the arrangement of the first of which is left to the will of the poet, but must be strictly observed in each of the others.
