tionality of 6 per cent. was reported as being German, 3 per cent. were reported as being of Swedish birth, the same proportion were Lithuanians, the remaining 10 per cent. being given as of English, French, Hungarian, Italian, Jewish, Russian and other nationalities. The number of females supplied with situations during the year was 4,179. The nationality of 29 per cent. of this number is reported as American; 40 per cent. as Irish; 9 per cent. as Polish; 5 per cent. as German; 4 per cent. as of the Colored race, the remaining 13 per cent. being given as of the Austrian, Canadian, Danish, English, French, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Russian, Scotch, Slavonian and other nationalities. The experience during the year last past as regards the situations secured, divided as to sex, is somewhat changed from that of previous years. In past years positions have been fur nished to a much larger proportion of females than to males than is the case in 1910. During the year mentioned the situations secured was more evenly divided between the sexes than formerly. Of the total number of persons for whom situations were secured during the year practically 51 per cent. were furnished to females and 49 per cent. to males. In the matter of proportion of situations secured to applicants for employment during the year Waterbury leads the other offices, the reports from the Superintendent there showing that practically 73 per cent. of applicants for employment were supplied with situations; the Bridgeport office coming second, showing that about 63 per cent. of all applying had been furnished employment; New Haven, Hartford and Norwich following in the order named, with a record of 59 per cent., 58 per cent. and 57 per cent. of applicants for employment furnished with sit uations. During the year ended November 30, 1910, the Waterbury office furnished help to 78 per cent. of all applying, the Bridgeport office furnished 77 per cent., Hartford 75 per cent., New Haven 73 per cent. and Norwich 49 per cent. The number and location of private employment agencies licensed by this bureau and which are lawfully authorized to transact business in this state follows: Hartford, 14; New Haven, II; Bridgeport, 7; Stamford, 5; Meriden, 4; South Norwalk, 3; Waterbury, 3; Greenwich, 2; Ansonia, Danbury, New London, Norwalk and Norwich. one each. A total of fifty-four against fifty-one in 1908. forty-one in 1907, the same number in 1906, forty-three in 1905, forty-four in 1904, and forty-seven in 1903. No complaint requiring prosecution under the statute regulating the conduct of these offices has been made to the bureau during the year.
