with reverence and put away idle thoughts and light behaviour. The Psalm, "I was glad when they said unto me, we will go into the house of the Lord." was sung, and the congregation then rose and remained standing while the ringers gave a peal lasting five minutes. Then this hymn was sung— "Now at length our bells are mounted To their holy place on high, Ever to fulful their mission, To the God of grace shall raise. Öf one Church they, too, are blest. "Year by year the steeple music O'er the tended graves shall pour; "Till the day of sheaves-ingathering; "Till Jerusalem, beholding That his glory in the east Shall, at the Archangel trumpet, Enter in to keep the feast. "Christ to Thee, the world's salvation, Father, Spirit, unto Thee, Low we bend in adoration, Ever blessed One in Three." The Rev. C. E. Dighton, the vicar, preached from the Divine command to Moses, "Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them; that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly" [Numbers x., 2.] At the evening service the special office for the day was repeated, and the vicar preached a suitable sermon from the text, "Will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, how much less this house that I have builded." Frocester Marriage Registers (concluded). [Vol. V. p. 1] 1755.
