As will be observed by the above table of declared exports, the prin cipal increases were in cement, fur refuse, hats, horn strips, paper and books, phosphates, rags and paper stock, scales and weights, and skins, rabbit, sheep, and other. Decreases in aniline colors, corsets, glass, gloves, hatters' fur, lace goods, linen goods, machinery, marble, paintings, and wines. Total decrease of exports as compared with corresponding period of 1897 was $457,886.25.
