THE GRADE LESSON BOOK. STANDARD I. REQUIREMENTS OF THE 'REVISED CODE' READING:-Narrative in monosyllables. WRITING:-Form, on black board or slate, from dictation, letters, capital and small, manuscript. ARITHMETIC:-Form, on black board or slate, from dictation, figures up to 20; name at sight figures up to 20; add and subtract figures up to 10 orally, from examples on black board. NOTICE TO TEACHERS. I. The lessons in this and the other 'Standards' are intended to be used consecutively. II. The spelling should be learnt before the lesson is read, the teacher having first taught the pupils the vowel sounds. III. The script is a continuation of the reading lesson, and is intended to be so used, as well as copied on the slates, as soon as the pupil has mastered the formation of the letters. IV. The early arithmetic lessons are intended to be read and written, and the ellipses supplied by the pupil. V. The pupil should be practised in writing from dictation, and in reading, the arithmetical exercises in the latter portion of the book. |
