THE FOLLOWING INDEX will be found applicable to every edition of Milton's Poetical Works, whether published as an entire or partial collection; the circumftance which refpects only the first edition of Paradife Loft, its appearance in ten books and the fubfequent divifion of thofe ten into twelve, being

remembered.

The explanation of the letters and figures ufed in this Index is as follows. The figures i, ii, iii, &c.. refer to the refpective books of Paradife Loft and Paradife Regained.
