THE writer of the following pages has not endeavoured to conceal his religious convictions as a Churchman, but, at the same time, he has preferred to make his objections to the work set forth in the name of the American Bible Society, on grounds which he believes are common to all who believe in the Trinity and the Atonement. He writes, in no respect, as a partisan, but as one who desires to see the pure Word of GOD made the lasting possession of all his country

men.
