Act relating to the Tax repealed.

so levied by and under the Authority of the Councils and Town
Commissioners shall be paid to the respective Treasurers of the
Cities and Towns in which the same are levied, and the Monies so
levied under the said Act by and under the Authority of the said
Boards of Guardians shall be paid to the Treasurers of their 5
respective Unions to a separate Account, and all Monies levied under
the said Act by the Collector General of Rates, and the Monies paid
to the said Treasurers, shall be paid by them under the Provisions of
the said recited Act into the Bank of Ireland to a separate Account
in the Name of the Paymaster of the Civil Services in Ireland, 10
and all Sums paid to such Paymaster shall be paid by him to
"The Ecclesiastical Commissioners for Ireland :" And whereas it is
further enacted by the said recited Act, that in case in any Half
Year the Sums due on the Houses liable to the said Tax be not
raised and paid over to the Paymaster of Civil Services, the same 15
shall in case of such Default, with respect to any Parish in the
immediate District of Dublin or in any of the other Cities and
Boroughs therein mentioned, become and be a Debt due to the
Crown, and recoverable as such from the City of Dublin, or from
such other City or Borough in which such Default may happen; and 20
the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland shall order all Sums which shall
become due to the Crown to be recovered and paid to "The Eccle-
siastical Commissioners for Ireland:" And whereas it is expedient to
alter and amend the said recited Act so far as relates to the aforesaid
Provisions, and not otherwise: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's 25
most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of
the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same,

I. That from and after the passing of this Act the aforesaid Provisions in the said recited Act, and all other Provisions relating 30 to the said Tax contained in the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, and Eleventh Sections of the said recited Act, shall be and are hereby repealed.

Extend the Provisions of the Scottish Municipal Reform Act to certain Royal Burghs in Scotland now excluded from the Benefits of that Act.

HEREAS an Act was passed in the Session of Parliament Preamble. holden in the Third and Fourth Years of the Reign of

passed:" And whereas much Loss, Inconvenience, and Discontent have been occasioned and still exist in the Burghs enumerated in the said Schedule (F.), partly in consequence of the close 15 System of Election being practised in some of the said Burghs, in virtue of the said Enactment, and partly in consequence of there being no legal Magistrates and Councils in others of the said

Burghs, consequent on null or irregular Elections: For Redress
and Prevention whereof it is expedient to extend to these Burghs
the Laws now in force for the Election of the Magistrates and
Councils of the other Royal Burghs of Scotland: Be it therefore
enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the 5
Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and
Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority
of the same, as follows:

I. The Provisions of the said Act of the Third and Fourth Years

said Act and of His said late Majesty King William the Fourth, and of an Act 10 passed in the Session of Parliament holden in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intituled "An "Act to alter and amend certain Provisions in the Laws relating to "the Number and Election of Magistrates and Councillors in the

Burghs in Scotland," and of an Act passed in the Session of Parlia- 15 ment holden in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intituled " An Act to provide for the supplying of Vacancies "in Town Councils of Burghs in Scotland, consequent on null or irregular Elections," shall affect and apply to the several Royal Burghs of Dornoch, New Galloway, Culross, Lochmaben, Bervie, 20 Wester Anstruther, Kilremy, Kinghorn, and Kintore, enumerated in the said Schedule (F.) annexed to the said first-mentioned Act, in the same Manner as if the Enactment before recited had not been therein contained, and the said Schedule (F.) had not been thereto annexed, and the said Burghs had not been excepted from all or any of the 25 Provisions of the said Acts.

II Accordingly, the Town Council, Magistrates, and other Office Bearers of each of the said Burghs enumerated in the said Schedule (F.) shall at the next Annual Election be chosen by and from among the Persons, at the Times, and according to the Mode pointed out 30 and prescribed in the said Acts for a First Annual Election in any of the Burghs not enumerated in Schedule (C.) annexed to the said first-mentioned Act; and upon the Completion of such First Election, and not sooner, the Magistrates and Councillors or the Judicial Managers now in Office in each of the said Burghs contained in the 35 said Schedule (F.) shall go out, and their whole Powers, Duties, and Functions shall cease and determine, except only where any of them shall have been again elected under the Provisions of the said Acts and of this Act; and at every succeeding Annual Election in each of the said Burghs contained in the said Schedule (F.) Coun- 40 cillors shall go out of Office, and their Places shall be supplied, and the Magistrates and other Office Bearers shall be elected, by and from among the Persons, at the Times, and according to the Mode pointed out and prescribed in the said Acts for any succeeding
