BILL

INTITULED

An Act for the better Preservation of the Peace

W

in Ireland.

HEREAS it is expedient to make Provision for the better Freamble. Preservation of the Peace in Ireland in certain Cases: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual 5 and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, as follows:

I. This Act may be cited for all Purposes as "The Peace Short Title. Preservation, Ireland, Act, 1856."

II. The several Sections of the Act passed in the Session of Certain 10 Parliament held in the Eleventh and Twelfth Years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, Chapter Two, (except the Preamble to the First c. 2. conSection, and except the Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Sixteenth, Seventeenth, Eighteenth, Nineteenth, Twentieth, Twentysecond, and Twenty-third Sections of said Act,) shall respectively

15 henceforth continue and be in full Force and Operation as fully and effectually as if the same were severally repeated herein, save Punishments that the Punishment to which Parties are liable, on Conviction reduced. under the Ninth and Twelfth Sections of said Act respectively,

shall henceforth be reduced from Imprisonment for any Period not exceeding Two Years, with or without Hard Labour, to Imprisonment for any Period not exceeding One Year, and save also that Licences under this Act to have or carry Arms shall be in the Forms in the Schedules (A.) and (B.) to this Act annexed, or to the 5 like Effect.

III. All Proclamations made and Notices given, and all Licences tions, &c. to issued, under the said Statute Eleventh Victoria, Chapter Two, or any Act continuing the same, shall remain in force until revoked or altered under this Act.

IV. This Act shall come into operation on the First Day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, and continue in force until the First Day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, and from thence until the End of the then next Session of Parliament.
