ator KENYON. You have read the resolution of the Senate under this committee is acting?

GARFIELD. Yes.

ator KENYON. And you are acquainted with the general purof the committee, namely, to get the facts for the Senate in the t coal situation?

GARFIELD. Yes.

ator KENYON. I think before we go to that I will ask you in a way, how large a force have you in your office devoted to the ation and solution of these coal difficulties?

GARFIELD. Do you include all in the office?

GARFIELD. Clerks and everybody?

GARFIELD. About 400. It changes from day to day, Senator, 15 grown so rapidly I am not quite sure of the figure.
