yet the general Christian activity of its different sections. But this fault cannot be laid at the Elitor's door. Surely it is high time, when every Christian society is bestirring itself, and some that are younger by several years than ourselves, are already in advance of us, for every minister and every educated layman to do what in him lies towards the more thorough representation of our true position in the Christian world; and, through the pages of the only organ among us, to give the whole Connexion the benefit of their larger experience, more various reading, higher culture, and nobler faith. A little personal sacrifice on their part will secure this desirable end. The Editor would, therefore, again earnestly solicit the friendly counsel and cordial co-operation of ministers and brethren in every part of our Connexion. May he also ask the aid of the secretaries of our churches in the intelligence department 1 The columns devoted to correspondence, will, as beforetime, be open for the discussion of questions now pressing, or thought to be pressing, on us as Christian men and citizens, for speedy and satisfactory solution; it being always understood that the writers only are responsible for their opinions. We say nothing here about our plans for the coming year; but would refer our readers to the general prospectus, which will be issued with this number of the Magazine. The fact that the Missionary Observer has been placed, by the vote of the Association, in the hands of the Secretary for the Orissa Mission, is a sufficient guarantee that the most recent, and the most interesting letters and journals from our noble band of missionaries in India, will always be placed before our readers.
