Colonel Bayly was the eldest son of John Bayly, Esq., who, with his ancestors, had long resided at Hambrook, co. Gloster. The Colonel's sister, Eliza, married Barré, son of the Rt. Hon. John Beresford. P.C.. second son of the Earl of Tyrone, and brother of the Marquess of Waterford. The Colonel's son, Edgar J. Bayly, was a Captain in the 12th Regiment, under his command in Ireland.
