The King has been pleased to order a congé d'elire to the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Lichfield, empowering them to elect a Bishop of the See of Lichfield and Coventry, now void by the death of James Earl Cornwallis, late Bishop thereof; and His Majesty has also been pleased to recommend to the said Dean and Chapter the Right Reverend Father in God Doctor Henry Ryder, Lord Bishop of Gloucester, to be by them elected Bishop of the said See of Lichfield and Coventry.

The King has been pleased to constitute and appoint the Right Honourable Robert Viscount Melville, Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle; Sir William Johnstone Hope, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, and Vice-Aďmiral of the Blue Squadron of His Majesty's Fleet; Sir George Cockburn, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, and Vice-Admiral of the Blue Squadron of His Majesty's Fleet; Sir George Clerk, Bart.; and William Robert Keith Douglas, Esq. to be His Majesty's Commissioners for executing the office of High Admiral of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the dominions, islauds, and territories thereunto belonging.

The King has been pleased to appoint George R. Chinnery, Esq. Commissioner on the part of His Majesty, to reside in Spain, under the 7th article of the Convention concluded at Madrid, on the 12th of March 1823, between Great Britain and Spain, for the settlement of the claims of British and Spanish subjects.

THE King has been pleased to nominate and appoint Daniel Molloy Hamilton, Esq. to be His Majesty's Commissioner of Arbitration, in the room of Edward FitzGerald, Esq. deceased, to the several Mixed Commissions established at Sierra Leone, under the Treaties and Conventions between His Majesty and the King of the Netherlands, His Majesty and the Catholick King, and His Majesty and His Most Faithful Majesty, for the prevention of illegal traffick in slaves, and pursuant to the several Acts of Parliament passed for carrying those Treaties and Conventions into effect.

The King has also been pleased to nominate and appoint James Woods, Esq. in the room of Daniel Molloy Hamilton, Esq. to be Registrar to the

The King has been pleased to present the Reverend Henry Woodcock, Doctor in Divinity, to the place and dignity of a Canon of the Cathedral Church of Christ, in the University of Oxford, void by the promotion of the Reverend Doctor Samuel Smith to the Deanery of the said Cathedral Church.
