WHEREAS the Select Committee appointed to try and determine the merits of the petition of Edward Rose Tunno, Esq. complaining of an undue · election and return for the borough of Bossinney, in the county of Cornwall, have this day reported to the House of Commous: That it appeared to the said Committee, that the merits of the petition depended upon the right of election; and that therefore the said Committee required the Counsel for the parties to deliver to the Clerk of the said Committee, statements in writing of the right of election for which they contend: That in consequence thereof the Counsel for the petitioner delivered in a statement as follows: "That the right of voting is in the freeholders of "lands within the borough, being also inhabitant "householders therein :" That the Counsel for the sitting Member deli-vered in a statement as follows:: "That the right of voting in the borough of Bossinney is in the free Burgesses of the said, "borough, possessed of lands of inheritance within "the same, and resident within the parish of Tin"tagel; such free Burgesses having been pre"viously presented by a jury at one of the Courts"Leet of the said borough, and sworn in accord"ingly." That upon the statement delivered in by the Cousel for the sitting Member, the said Committee have determined, That the right of voting as set forth in the said statement, is the right of voting for the said borough of Bossinney. THIS day, the Lords being met, a message was sent to the Honourable House of Commons by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, acquainting them, that The Lords, authorised by virtue of a Commission under the Great Seal, signed by His Majesty, for declaring His Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses, do desire the immediate attendance of the Honourable House in the House of Peers to hear the Commission read; and the Commons being come thither, the said Commission, empowering the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, and several other Lords therein named, to declare and notify the Royal Assent to the said Acts, was read accordingly, and the Royal Assent given to An Act to reduce the duties on rum, the produce of the British Colonies or Plantatious in America,. imported into the United Kingdom. An Act to continue, until the fifth day of July one thousand eight hundred and twenty-five, the Acts for granting bounties on the exportation of refined sugar from the United Kingdom, and for reducing the size of the packages in which refined sugar may be exported. An Act to amend and render more effectual the several Acts, for the issuing of Exchequer Bills for public works. An |
