POEMS,

CHIEFLY LYRICAL,

COMPILED AND ARRANGED BY

GEORGE H. STRUTT.

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory-
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Glimpses of glory, ne'er forgot,

That tell like gleams on a sunset sea,
What once hath been, what now is not,
But oh! what again shall brightly be.

And Memory, too, with her dreams shall come,
Dreams of a former, happier day,
When Heaven was still the Spirit's home,
And her wings had not yet fallen away.

Sowing and Reaping
Sow ye beside all waters
Moments
Oh Time, oh ever conquering Time..
This world is all a fleeting show
When the firmament quivers
How Long?
Leave God to order all thy ways
