be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of fome other grain: but God giveth it a body as it hath pleafed him, and to every feed his own body. All fleth is not the fame fleth: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another fleth of beafis, another of filhes, and another of birds. There are alfo celeftial bodies, and bodies terreftrial; but the glory of the celeftial is one, and the glory of the terreftrial is an other. There is one glory of the fun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the fiars: for one fiar differeth from another ftar in glory. So alfo is the refurrection of the dead. It is fown in corruption, it is raifed

it is redwn in

difhonour, it is raised in glory: it is fown in weaknefs, it is raifed in power: it is fown a natural body; it is raifed a fpiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a fpiritual body. And fo it is written, The first man Adam was made a living foul, the laft Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit, that was not firit which is fpiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is fpiritual. The firit man is of the earth, earthy; the fecond man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, fuch are they that are earthy and as is the heavenly, fuch are they alfo that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we hall alio bear the image of the hea. venly. Now this I fay, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I fhew you a mytery: We thall not all

fleep, but we shall all be changed;

in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet fhall found, and the dead thall be raised incorruptible, and we thall be changed. For this corruptible mufi put on incorruption, and this mortal muft put on immortality. So when this corruptible hall have put on incorruption, and. this mortal fhall have put on immor

tality; then fhall be brought to pafs the faying that is written, Death is fwallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy fling O grave, where is thy victory? The fting of death is fin, and the frength of tin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lerd Jefus Chrifi. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye fleifafi, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forafmuch as ye know that your la bour is not in vain in the Lord. When they come to the Grave, while the Corpfe is made ready to be laid into the earth, the Priest thall fay, or the Priest and Clerks hall fing: MAN that is born of a woman, hath but a thort time to live, and is full of mifery. He cometh up, and is cut down like a flower; he fleeth as it were a fhadow, and never continueth in one flay.

In the midft of life we are in death: of whom may we feek for fuccour, but of thee, O Lord, who for our fins art jufily dif pleated?

Yet, O Lord God moft holy, O Lord moti mighty, O holy and moft merciful Saviour, deliver us not into the bitter pains of eternal death.

Thou knoweft, Lord, the fecrets of our hearts, thut not thy merciful ears to our prayers; but fpare us, Lord moff holy, O God mot mighty, O holy and merci. ful Saviour, thou moft worthy Judge eternal, fuffer us not at our faft hour for any pains of death to fall from thee.

Then while the earth shall be caft upon the Body by fome tanding by, the Priest haltfay, ed Almighty Gorl of his great ORASMUCH as it hath pleafmercy to take unto himfeif the foul of our dear brother here departed, we therefore commit his body to the ground; earth to earth, athes to alhes, duft to duff; in fure and certain hope of the re furrection to eternal lite, through our Lord Jefus Chrift; who thall change our vile body, that it may be like unto his glorious body,

according to the mighty working, whereby he is able to fubdue all things to himself.

Then fhall be faid, or fung, HEARD a voice from heaven, faying unto me, Write, From

henceforth bleffed are the dead

which die in the Lord: even fo faith the Spirit; for they reft from their labours. Rev. xiv. 13.

Then hall the Pricft fay,
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Chrift, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven: Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trefpafles, as we forgive them that trefpafs againf us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. Amen.

LMIGHTY God, with whom A do live the fpirits of them

that depart hence in the Lord, and with whom the fouls of the faithful, after they are delivered from the burden of the fleth, are in joy and felicity; We give thee hearty thanks, for that it hath pleafed thee to deliver this our brother out of the miferies of this finful world, befeeching thee, that it may pleafe thee of thy gracious goodness, thortly to accomplish the number of thine elect, and to haften thy kingdom; that we, with all thofe that are departed in the true faith of thy holy

Name, may have our perfect confummation and blifs, both in body and foul, in thy eternal and everlafting glory, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen."

accurfed (as the prophet David. beareth witnefs) who do err and go aftray from the commandments of God, let us (remembering the dreadful judgement hanging over our heads, and always ready to fall upon us) return unto our Lord God, with all contrition and meekness of heart; bewailing and lamenting our finful life, acknowledging and confeffing our offences, and feeking to bring forth worthy fruits of penance. For now is the axe put unto the root of the trees; fo that every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down and caft into the fire. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God : he thall pour down rain upon the finners, fnares, fire and brimftone, ftorm and tempeft;, this thall be their portion to drink. For, lo, the Lord is come out of his place, to vifit the wickedness of fuch as dwell upon the earth. But who may abide the day of his coming? Who fhall be able to endure when he appeareth? Ilis fan is in his hand, and he

Caft away from you all your ungodliness that ye have done; make you new hearts and a new fpirit: Wherefore will ye die, O ye house of Ifrael? feeing that I have no pleafure in the death of him that dieth, faith the Lord God: Turn ye then, and ye fhall live. Although we have finned, yet have we an Advocate with the Father, Jefus Chrift the righteous; and he is the propitiation for our fins. For he was wounded for our offences, and fmitten for our wickedness. Let us therefore return unto him, who is the merciful receiver of all true penitent finners; affering ourselves that he is ready to receive us, and most willing to pardon us, if we come unto him with faithful repentance; if we fubmit ourfelves unto him, and and from henceforth walk in his ways; if we will take his eafy yoke and light burden upon us, to follow him in lowlinefs, patience, and charity, and be ordered by the governance of his Holy Spirit; feeking always his glory, and ferving him duly in our vocation with thanksgiving. This if we do, Chrift will deliver us from the curfe of the law, and from the extreme malediction which thall light upon them that fall be fet on the left hand; and he will fet us on his right hand, and give us the gracious benediction of his Father, commanding us to take poleffion of his glorious kingdom: unto which he vouchfafe to bring us all, for his infinite mercy. Amen. Then all they all kneel upon their knees; and the Priest and Clerks kneeling in the place where they are accustomed to lay the Litany, jhall fay this Palm. Pfalm li. Miferere mei, Deus. will purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the barn; but he will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire. The day of the Lord cometh as a thief in the night: and when men thall fay, Feace, and all things are fafe; then hall fudden deftruction come upon them, as forrow cometh upon a woman travailing with child, and they fhall not efcape. Then thall appear the wrath of God in the day of vengeance, which obftinate finners, through the fiubbornnefs of their heart, have heaped upon themselves; which defpifed the goodnefs, patience, and longfuffering of God, when he calleth them continually to repentance. Then fhall they call upon me (faith the Lord), but I will not hear; they thail feek me early, but they shall not find me; and that because they hated knowledge, and received not the fear of the Lord; but abhorred my counfel, and defpifed my correction. Then thall it be too late to knock, when the door fhall be fhut; and too late to cry for mercy, when it is the time of justice. O terrible voice of moti juft judgement, which thall be pronounced upon them, when it, ihall be faid unto them, Go, ye curfed, into the fire everlating, which is prepared for the devil and his angels! Therefore, brethren, take we heed betime, while the day of falvation lafeth; for the night cometh, when none can work. But let us, while we have the light, believe in the light, and walk as children of the light; that we be not caft into utter darkness, where is weep ing and gnathing of teeth. Let us not abuse the goodness of God, who calleth us mercifully to amendment; and of his endless pity promifeth us forgiveness of that which is paft, if with a perfect and true heart we return unto him. For though our fins thall be as red as fearlet, they and be made white as fnow; and though they be like purple, yet they fhall be made white as wool. Turn ye (faith the Lord)
