1 JESUS, the Lord, our souls adore;
The man of sorrows now no more.
High on his Father's throne He reigns,
And o'er all heaven his sway maintains.
2 Yet, midst the honours of his throne,
He reigns not for himself alone;

In him the saints by faith may view
Their Lord, and their Forerunner too.
3 When from the earth he rose on high,
Within the veil beyond the sky,
He rose our mansions to prepare,
And shortly we shall enter there.
HYMN 243.

REJOICE! the Lord is King!
Your God and King adore;
Loud Hallelujahs sing,

And triumph evermore.

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice,
Rejoice, ye saints of God, rejoice!

Rejoice! the Saviour reigns,
The God of truth and love;
When he had purg'd our stains,
He took his seat above:

His powerful blood did once atone,
And now it pleads before the throne.

His kingdom cannot fail;

He rules o'er earth and heaven:
The keys of death and hell

Into his hands are given.

Soon we shall hear th' Archangel's voice;
The trump of God shall sound-rejoice!
HYMN 244.

1 ALL hail the power of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall:
Bring forth the royal diadem,

And crown him LORD of all.

2 Ye chosen seed of Israel's race,

A remnant weak and small;

Hail him who saves you by his grace,
And crown him-Lord of all.

3 Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,

To him all majesty ascribe,

And crown him-Lord of all.

4 O that, with yonder sacred throng,
We at his feet may fall!
There join the everlasting song,
And crown him-Lord of all.

HYMN 245.

1 WE bless the PROPHET of the Lord,
Who comes with truth and grace;
Jesus! thy Spirit and thy word
Shall lead us in thy ways.

2 We rev'rence our HIGH-PRIEST above,
Who offered up his blood,
And lives to carry on his love,
By pleading with our God.

3 We honour our exalted KING;
How just are his commands!

He guards our souls from hell and sin,
By his Almighty hands.

t

4 Hosannah to His glorious name,

Who saves us by his

grace;

His mercies lay a sov'reign claim
To our immortal praise.

Sing of his dying love,
Sing of his rising power:

Sing how He intercedes above
For us, whose sins He bore.

Ye pilgrims on the road.
To Zion's city, sing!

Rejoice ye in the Lamb of God,
In Christ th' Eternal King!

Soon shall we hear Him say
"Ye blessed children, come!"
Soon will He call us hence away,
To our eternal home.

There shall our raptur'd tongues
His endless praise proclaim;
And sweeter voices tune the song
Of Moses and the Lamb.

HYMN 247.

1 COME, Lord and warm each languid heart!
Inspire each lifeless tongue;
And let the joys of heaven impart
Their gladness to our song.

2 There sin, and grief, and every fear,
And pain, and sighing, cease;

There love, and joy without a tear,
Abide with endless peace.

1

3 Lord! tune our hearts to praise and love;
Our feeble notes inspire;

Till in thy blissful courts above
We join th' angelic choir.

HYMN 248.

1 O FOR a sweet inspiring ray,
To animate our feeble strains,

From the bright realms of endless day;
The blissful realms where Jesus reigns!

2 There, low before His glorious throne,
Adoring saints and angels fall;
And with adoring worship own

His smile their bliss, their heaven, their all.

3 There all the ransom'd of the Lamb Shall join at last the heavenly choir:: O may the joy-inspiring theme

Awake our faith and warm desire!

4 Lord!-if Thine Holy Spirit seal

Our int'rest in that blissful place,Death shall remove this mortal veil, And we shall see Thee, face to face.

HYMN 249.

1 DESCEND from heav'n, immortal Dove!
Stoop down and take us on thy wings;
And mount, and hear us far above
The reach of these inferior things.

2 O for a sight, a pleasing sight,

Of our Almighty Father's throne! There sits our Saviour crown'd with light, Cloth'd in a body like our own.

3 Adoring saints around him stand;

And thrones and powers before him fall: The GOD shines gracious thro' the Man, And sheds sweet glories on them all.

4 When shall the day, O LORD, appear,

That we shall mount to dwell above? And stand and bow amongst them there, And view thy face, and sing thy love?

1 CREATOR Spirit! by whose aid
The world's foundations first were laid,
Come, visit ev'ry pious mind;

Come, pour thy joys on human kind;
From sin and sorrow set us free,
And make us temples worthy Thee.
2 Thrice Holy Fount; Thrice Holy Fire!
Our hearts with heavenly love inspire;
Come, and thy sacred unction bring,
To sanctify us while we sing.

Plenteous of grace, descend from high,
Rich in thy seven-fold energy!

3 Thou strength of His almighty hand,
Whose power does heaven and earth command;
Our frailties help, our vice control,

Subdue the senses to the soul;

And, lest our feet should go astray,
Protect and guide us in the way.

4 Chase from our minds th' infernal foe,
And peace, the fruit of love, bestow:
Make us eternal truth receive,
And practise all that we believe:
Give us Thyself, that we may see
The Father, and the Son, by Thee.
HYMN 255.

1 COME, Holy Spirit! Heav'nly: Dove!
With all thy quick'ning powers;

Kindle a flame of sacred love

In these cold hearts of ours.

2 See how we grovel here below,
Fond of these earthly toys!
Our souls, how heavily they go
To reach eternal joys.

3 Come, Holy Spirit! Heav'nly Dove!
With all thy quick'ning powers!
Come, shed abroad a Saviour's love,
And that shall kindle ours.
