FATHER! in whom we live,
In whom we are, and move;

The glory, power, and praise receive
Of thine eternal love.

Incarnate Deity!

Let all the ransom'd race

Render, in thanks, their lives to thee,
For thy redeeming grace.

Spirit of holiness!

Let all thy saints adore
Thy sacred energy, and bless
Thy heart-renewing power.

Eternal, glorious Lord!
Let all the saints above,

Let all the sons of men record

And celebrate thy love.

HYMN 261.

1 LIFT up to God the voice of praise!
Whose breath our souls inspir'd;
Loud and more loud the anthems raise
With grateful ardour fir'd.

2 Lift up to God the voice of praise!
Whose tender care sustains

Our feeble frame, encompass'd round
With death's unnumber'd pains.
3 Lift up to God the voice of praise!
Whose goodness passeth thought;
Loads every minute as it flies
With benefits unsought.

4 Lift up to God the voice of praise!
From whom salvation flows;

Who sent His Son our souls to save
From everlasting woes.

5 Lift up to God the voice of praise!
For hope's transporting ray,

Which lights thro' darkest shades of death To realms of endless day.

1 LEAD us, heavenly Father! lead us
O'er the world's tempestuous sea;
Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee:
Yet possessing every blessing,
If our God our Father be!

2 Saviour! breathe forgiveness o'er us;
All our weakness thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;

Lone and dreary, faint and weary,
Through the desert thou didst go!
3 Spirit of our God! descending,

Fill our hearts with heavenly joy;
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure, that can never cloy.-
Thus provided, pardon'd, guided;
Nothing can our peace destroy.

Sundays after Trinity.

As the first part of the year's service ends with a commemo ration of the new law given us in our hearts by the Holy Spirit; so the second mainly instructs us in the particulars, as well as the means, of our sanctification, in order to the prac tice of that law.-The first Lessons during this half year lead us through a track of rich experience; in the later history of the Jews,―the admonitions of the prophets, and the precepts of the book of Proverbs. The Epistles contain the most striking precepts, the Gospels, some of the greatest miracles, gravest discourses, and most affecting parables of our Lord.The Collects ask for corresponding blessings; not only for ourselves, but for the Church at large.

HYMN 263.

1 GOD hath his saving grace made known,
By the blest Gospel of his Son:

Let then our lips and lives express
The holy doctrine we profess.

2 Thus shall we best proclaim abroad
The honours of our Saviour God,
When his salvation reigns within,
And grace subdues the power of sin.
3 Our flesh and sense must be denied,
Passion and I envy, lust and pride;
While justice, temp'rance, truth, and love,
Our inward piety approve.

4 Th' expected advent of the Lord
Shall then a blessed hope afford:
He died, his saints from sin to free,
That they a holy race might be.

HYMN 264.

1 SHOULD ours a barren knowledge prove?
Should ours be an unfruitful love?
If then we know and love the Lord,
What fruits are pictur'd in his word?
2 Christians all diligence must give
That virtue with their faith may live;
Their hearts for knowledge still aspire,
And temp'rance check each wrong desire.
3 Patience must bear each present ill;
Godliness do Jehovah's will;
Brotherhood join in union kind,
While love pervades the inmost mind.
4 Hear then the call so high and pure!
Make, brethren, your election sure;
Nor seem to prize, with feelings cold,
The love that purg'd your sins of old.

5 Strive that your graces may abound;
By this alone is safety found.
So will the Lord make richly known
The glories of his heavenly throne.

CAN sinners hope for heaven,
Who love this world so well;
Or dream of future happiness,
While in the road to hell?

Shall they hosannas sing With an unhallow'd tongue? Shall palms adorn the guilty hand That does its neighbour wrong? 3 Can sin's deceitful way Conduct to Zion's hill?

4

Or those expect with God to reign

Who disregard his will?

Thy grace, O God, alone

Can a good hope afford!

The pardon'd and renew'd shall see
The glory of the Lord.

HYMN 266.

1 GOD of all grace and majesty!
Supremely great and good!
If we have favour found with thee,
Through the atoning blood;
The guard of all thy mercies give!
And to our pardon join

A fear, lest we thy Spirit grieve;
Teach us thy law divine.

2 Since mercy is indeed with thee,
May we obedient prove!
Nor e'er abuse our liberty,
Or sin against thy love.

Still may we walk as in Thy sight;
Our strict observer see:

Do Thou by rev'rent love unite
Our child-like heart to Thee.
HYMN 267.

1 A CHARGE to keep I have,
A God to glorify;

A never dying soul to save,
And fit it for the sky;—

To serve the present age,

My calling to fulfil ;

O may it all my pow'rs engage,
To do my master's will!

Arm me with jealous care

As in thy sight to live;

And O! thy servant, LORD, prepare
A good account to give!

Help me to watch and pray,
And on thyself rely;

And let me ne'er my trust betray,
Lest I for ever die.

HYMN 268.

"TIS God the Spirit leads,

In paths before unknown;

The work to be perform'd is ours,
The strength is all his own.

Assisted by his grace,

We still pursue our way;

And hope at last to reach the prize,

Secure in endless day.

'Tis He that works to will,

'Tis He that works to do:

His is the power by which we act;
His be the glory too.

HYMN 269.

لان

1 THY mercy grant to us, O Lord;
Our hearts to keep thy precepts frame;
And cause us all, with one accord,
Gladly to magnify thy name.

2 For of ourselves no strength we have,
To keep the dictates of thy will;
Therefore Thy strength, O Christ, we crave,
That we may thy commands fulfil.,
