3 Earth's angry nations rose in vain,
Conspiring to obstruct thy reign;
On wings of vengeance flies our God,
To claim the long arrears of blood.
4 Now must the rising dead appear;
Now their decisive sentence hear:
Martyrs, and all that fear the Lord,
Shall now receive their full reward.
HYMN 386.

Rev. xii. 12.

1 LET the Church praise her long-expected King, Who wins her battles, and shall yet prevail ! In all her trials, Michael's triumph sing,

Whose hosts in heaven made Satan's might to fail. 2 The hosts of Satan, from those mansions driven, And Satan's self, to earth as lightning fell; And to the Church on earth shall strength be given To scape the wiles, and brave the powers of hell. 3 Again God's servants shall of triumph sing,

Again proclaim," Tis now salvation's hour, "The day of strength and joy in God our King; "For Christ shall reign with undivided power. 4" He, that accus'd the brethren, is cast down;

They, thro' Christ's blood, a glorious warfare wage; "Rejoice, ye heavens; and to the Church make known, "That short on earth is Satan's wrathful rage."

HYMN 387.

Rev. xiv.

1 SEAL'D, and redeem'd from earth, yon glorious band Around the Lamb on Zion's mountain stand.

And hark! how swells from heaven the choral song,
As rolling waves, or pealing thunder, strong!
'Tis the new song, with tongues and harpings sweet,
Which only those redeem'd from earth repeat.

2 Behold the Angel, wing'd from heaven, prepare
The Gospel's message through the world to bear!
E'en now another testifies to all,

Of mystic Babylon's approaching fall.

A third proclaims the woes that they sustain,
The Beast who worship, and his mark retain.

3 Blest, all that die united to the Lord, Patient, and faithful to his holy word!

When earth's great harvest Christ shall come to reap,
Them as the first fruits will the Saviour keep.
Faultless and pure before the throne of God,
When the dread winepress of God's wrath is trod.
HYMN 388.

Rev. xv. 3, 4.-Compare Exod. xv. and Isai. xi, xii.
1 WITH thy victorious saints, O Lord,
Thy glories we proclaim;

And, taught by thee, unite the songs
Of Moses and the Lamb.

2 Great God, how wonderful thy works
Of vengeance and of grace!
Thou King of saints, Almighty Lord,
How just and true thy ways!

3 Who shall refuse to fear Thee, Lord,
And glorify thy name?

Thou art in holiness supreme,
As all thy works proclaim.

4 All nations of the earth shall come
And worship at thy throne;
For in their season, through the world
Thy judgments are made known.
HYMN 389.

Communion Hymn.-Rev. xix. 1—9.

1 ALL ye, who faithful servants are
Of our Almighty King,

Both high and low, and small and great,
His praise devoutly sing!

2 Soon shall a countless multitude
Raise their triumphant strains;
And loud, with Hallelujah, sing
That God Almighty reigns.
3 Here-round his table we rejoice,
And bless his holy name;
And may we celebrate above
The marriage of the Lamb.

4 The Church, his bride, shall be prepar'd;
How pure and white her dress!
It is the saints' integrity,

It is their holiness.

5 Write then, how blest is ev'ry one,
Who, to the marriage-feast
And holy supper of the Lamb,
Is call'd a welcome guest.

HYMN 390.

Rev. xix. 1-6, &c.

1 HARK! the song of Jubilee!
Loud as mighty thunders roar,
Or the fullness of the sea,

When it breaks upon the shore.
Hallelujah! for the Lord,

God omnipotent, shall reign;
Hallelujah! let the word

Echo round the earth and main.

2 Hallelujah!-hark! the sound,
From the centre to the skies,
Wakes above, beneath, around,
All creation's harmonies.
See Jehovah's banner furl'd!

Sheath'd his sword! He speaks -tis done;
And the kingdoms of this world

Are the kingdoms of his Son,

3 He shall reign, from pole to pole,
With illimitable sway;

He shall reign, when like a scroll
Yonder heavens have pass'd away.
Then the end;-beneath his rod,
Man's last enemy shall fall.
Hallelujah! Christ in God,
God in Christ, is all in all.

Rev. xxi, xxii.

I JERUSALEM! my happy home!
Name ever dear to me!

When shall my labours have an end
In joy, and peace, and thee?

When shall these eyes thy heaven-built walls
And pearly gates behold?

Thy bulwarks, with salvation strong,

And streets of shining gold?

20 when, thou city of my God,

Shall I thy courts ascend,

Where congregations ne'er break up,
And Sabbaths never end?

There happier bowers, than Eden's, bloom;

Nor sin nor sorrow know.

Blest seats! thro' rude and stormy scenes
I onward press to you.

3 Apostles, martyrs, prophets, there
Around my Saviour stand;
And soon my friends in Christ below
Will join the glorious band.
Jerusalem! my happy home!
My soul still pants for thee;
Then shall my labours have an end,
When I thy joys shall see.
